Description

Smith Wesson Model 632 Revolver lightweight silver 32 H&R Magnum carry revolver

The Smith Wesson Model 632 Revolver is the silver-finished version of Smith and Wesson lightweight 32 H&R Magnum J-frame, pairing an aluminum alloy frame with a stainless steel barrel and a six-round stainless cylinder.

Smith Wesson Model 632 Revolver The Case for a Six-Shot J-Frame

Small revolvers have been five-shot guns for so long that most buyers assume that is a hard limit. It is not. The 32 H&R Magnum cartridge is slim enough that the same J-frame cylinder holds six, and it does so while producing considerably less recoil than 38 Special.

The 632 is the silver sibling of the 432. Where the 432 wears a black finish on its aluminum frame, the 632 gets a silver-colored finish and a stainless steel cylinder, which suits shooters who prefer a brighter gun or who want the corrosion resistance of stainless on the working parts.

At 14.7 ounces it disappears in a pocket holster or on an ankle rig. Height is 4.3 inches and width is 1.3 inches, which is about as small as a serious defensive handgun gets.

Sights, Grip and Action

A gold bead front sight sits where most J-frames have a plain black ramp. Under low light or against a dark target the difference is real, because the bead reflects whatever light is available instead of vanishing. The rear sight is a u-notch integrated into the topstrap.

The synthetic boot grip is textured and contoured for recoil control while staying short enough to conceal. Expect your little finger to ride below the grip. That is a deliberate trade, and adding a grip extension defeats the purpose.

This is a double action only revolver with an enclosed hammer. There is nothing to catch on clothing during a draw, and the long deliberate trigger stroke is a safety feature in its own right on a gun carried without a manual safety.

Why Buyers Choose the Smith Wesson Model 632 Revolver

Lower recoil means more practice, and more practice is what actually makes a carry gun useful. A 14 ounce 38 Special punishes the hand; a 14 ounce 32 H&R Magnum does not.

Six rounds instead of five in the same footprint is a straightforward gain with no penalty in size, weight or concealment.

The chambers also take 32 S&W Long, a genuinely gentle and inexpensive practice cartridge. That makes range time affordable in a class of gun most people fire twenty rounds a year through.

Stainless cylinder and barrel resist the sweat and humidity that come with carrying a gun against the body all day, which is exactly the environment that ruins carbon steel.

Who Should Buy It

The Smith Wesson Model 632 Revolver suits concealed carriers looking for a pocket revolver they will train with, shooters with hand or wrist limitations who cannot manage airweight 38 Special recoil, and anyone wanting a light backup. Keep in mind that 32 H&R Magnum is harder to find on local shelves than 38 Special, so buying ammunition ahead is wise.
