Description

Smith Wesson 15 Complete Lower AR-15 complete lower receiver with collapsible stock

The Smith Wesson 15 Complete Lower is a factory-assembled AR-15 lower receiver from Smith and Wesson, machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and supplied complete with trigger group, pistol grip and a collapsible stock, ready to take any mil-spec upper.

Smith Wesson 15 Complete Lower The Half of an AR That Matters

On an AR-15 the lower receiver is the serialised part, which means it is the firearm in legal terms and everything else is a component. Buying a complete lower is the sensible starting point for a build: it gets the paperwork out of the way once, and it gives you a known-good foundation to bolt an upper onto.

This one is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, the same alloy used on service rifles, and finished in black. It arrives with the standard trigger group, a standard AR-15 pistol grip and a collapsible synthetic stock already fitted.

It is marked for 223 Remington and works equally with 5.56x45mm NATO uppers, since the chamber lives in the barrel rather than the lower.

Building on It

Any mil-spec AR-15 upper receiver group will pin straight onto this lower. That is the entire appeal of the platform: a 16 inch 5.56 carbine today, a 300 Blackout upper next year, a 22 LR conversion for cheap practice, all on the same registered receiver.

Because the trigger, grip and stock are already installed, you can be shooting the same day the upper arrives. There is no need for punches, roll pin holders, a castle nut wrench or the patience that installing a lower parts kit demands.

If you later decide you want a better trigger or different furniture, all of it is replaceable with common tools. Starting complete does not lock you into anything; it simply removes the first hurdle.

What You Still Need

A complete lower is exactly half a rifle. To finish it you need an upper receiver group, which means the barrel, handguard, gas system, bolt carrier group and charging handle. Many uppers ship assembled with a bolt carrier and charging handle included, and many do not, so read the listing carefully before you order.

Assembly itself takes about a minute: line up the front pivot pin, drop the rear takedown pin, and the rifle is together. No tools are required and no gunsmith is involved.

Check your state and local law before you build. Some states restrict specific features such as adjustable stocks, pistol grips and flash hiders, and a lower with a collapsible stock may need a different configuration in those jurisdictions. Barrel length also matters: pairing this lower with an upper under 16 inches creates a short-barrelled rifle that requires federal registration before assembly.

Why Buyers Choose the Smith Wesson 15 Complete Lower

A complete lower removes the fiddliest part of an AR build. Installing a lower parts kit is a rite of passage that has launched more than a few detent springs across a workshop, and skipping it costs very little.

Smith and Wesson has been building the M&P15 since 2006, and the fit and finish on their receivers is consistent. This is not a bargain-bin forging with soft threads.

One registered lower can host an unlimited number of uppers over its life, so this purchase covers every future calibre and barrel length you decide to try.

7075-T6 aluminum is the correct alloy for the job. It is stronger than the 6061 used on some budget receivers, particularly around the takedown pin lugs and the buffer tube threads.

Who Should Buy It

The Smith Wesson 15 Complete Lower suits anyone building an AR-15 from parts, shooters who want a second registered lower so multiple uppers can be kept assembled, and first-time builders who would rather skip the small-parts stage. Remember that this is a firearm and must ship to your chosen licensed dealer for transfer.
