Description

Sig Sauer P320 MOD 9mm compensated competition pistol

The Sig Sauer P320 MOD 9mm is what a world champion asked Sig to build. Max Michel spent years modifying P320s for competition, and this one arrives with the modifications already done: a compensator machined into the slide, extra weight molded into the grip module, a flat blade trigger, an extended magazine catch from Springer Precision and a matte black DLC slide. It weighs 33.2 ounces and runs three 21 round magazines.

Compensator And Grip Weight Working Together

The two port expansion chamber is machined into the slide ahead of the barrel lockup, venting gas upward through a pair of ports as the bullet passes. Because the compensator is machined into the existing slide envelope rather than threaded onto the muzzle, overall length stays at 8.3 inches and no threaded barrel is involved.

The integrated grip weight is the other half of the design. Adding mass low in the frame, under the bore axis, is one of the most effective ways to reduce muzzle rise, and combining that with ports above means the gun tracks noticeably flatter than a standard P320 of the same size.

Total weight lands at 33.2 ounces, height is 5.7 inches and width is 1.6 inches. That is heavier than a standard polymer P320 and lighter than a metal framed gun, which is exactly the window competitors tend to want.

Trigger, Controls And Sights

The XSeries flat blade trigger is the one Sig puts on their competition guns. A flat face changes where the finger sits on the shoe, which makes a striker break feel lighter and more consistent than the same pull weight on a curved trigger, and it gives a more repeatable reference point press to press.

The Springer Precision magazine catch is an aftermarket part that arrives installed. It extends the button so a reload can be started without shifting the firing grip, which on a timer is worth real hundredths of a second. Small detail, obviously chosen by someone who shoots for score.

XRAY3 day night sights come installed on a slide cut for Sigs PRO optic footprint, which accepts the ROMEO1Pro, ROMEO2, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro and Trijicon RMR. Tritium front and rear means the pistol still works in the dark if it ever has to, and the wide optic compatibility means a competitor is not limited to micro dots.

Two notes on ordering. This SKU ships with three 21 round magazines; Sig also builds a 10 round version of the same pistol for capacity restricted states, so confirm which configuration applies where you live. And the barrel is non threaded, because the compensator is part of the slide rather than a muzzle attachment, so there is nothing to unscrew and nothing extra to buy.

Why Buyers Choose The Sig Sauer P320 MOD 9mm

Competitors choose the Sig Sauer P320 MOD 9mm because the modifications a champion would make are already made. Slide ports, grip weight, flat trigger and an extended magazine release are four separate purchases and at least one gunsmith visit on a standard P320.

The flat tracking is the practical result. Between the two port compensator above and the integrated weight below, the muzzle stays down and the dot or the front sight returns to where it started. On a stage that translates directly into faster splits and tighter groups.

Three 21 round magazines in the box is a real value. Magazines at that capacity are expensive, and having three means a shooter can load for a match without a separate order on day one.

Who Should Buy The Sig Sauer P320 MOD 9mm

This pistol suits a USPSA or steel challenge competitor in Carry Optics, a range shooter who wants the softest shooting P320 Sig builds, and anyone who has been slowly modifying a P320 and would rather buy the finished version. At 33.2 ounces with a full size grip it is a competition and home defense gun rather than a daily carry piece.
