Description
The SIG Sauer Juliet4 SOJ41001 is a 4x red dot magnifier from SIG Sauer (model Juliet4).
SIG Sauer Juliet4 SOJ41001 Overview
A magnifier sits behind a red dot or holographic sight and adds fixed magnification for identifying and engaging targets farther away. Most use a flip-to-side mount so you can swing the magnifier out of the way and return to unmagnified red dot speed in a second.
A magnifier does not have its own reticle; it magnifies the reticle and target seen through your existing sight, so the dot also appears larger at the same time.
Optics and Eye Relief
It provides 4x magnification through a 24mm objective and a field of view of 6.25 Degrees. Set it up behind your red dot so the magnified dot is centered and sharp, and use the diopter adjustment, if fitted, to focus the reticle for your eye.
Mounting and Fit
It mounts via Picatinny Rail / Quick Release Powercam. The distributor lists it for rifle use. Set your zeroing distance to match how you use the gun: 50 yards is a popular rifle zero for a red dot, and 15 to 25 yards is common for pistols.
Power and Battery
A magnifier needs no battery of its own, which is one less thing to maintain; just keep the lenses clean and the mount screws checked. The red dot it pairs with still needs a fresh battery on a regular schedule.
Build and Durability
The housing is aluminum, and the distributor lists it as waterproof. Listed weight is 12.50 oz with a length of 4.20″. Check the mounting screws after the first range session and use the thread locker the maker recommends.
Honest Limitations
Shooters with astigmatism often see a red dot as a starburst, comma or cluster instead of a clean dot; a prism sight, a different dot color or corrective lenses can help, so try one before you buy if you can.
Budget and mid-priced sights are fine for range, hunting and home use, but they are not built to the same abuse standard as top-tier duty optics, so match the sight to the job. Open emitters can also collect rain, snow, lint or debris that blocks the dot, so check the window before you rely on the sight, and keep lens caps or a cover on it during transport. Clean the glass with a lens brush and microfiber cloth rather than a shirt tail.
Sighting In
Start close, at 10 to 25 yards, to get on paper, then move to your final distance and refine. Keep a consistent eye position and cheek weld while you shoot groups, adjust windage and elevation in small steps, and confirm the zero with the ammunition you actually carry or hunt with.
Before You Buy
Confirm the mount, footprint or rail on your firearm, the battery type, and whether you need co-witness height with your iron sights. Optics are not firearms and ship without an FFL transfer.
Pairing a Magnifier
Match the magnifier height to your red dot so the two share the same optical axis; most quality magnifiers ship with mounts sized for common AR-height dots. Expect the field of view to narrow and your eye position to become more critical with the magnifier in place. Flip-to-side mounts let you swing it away for close work and back for longer shots without losing zero on the dot.
Care and Storage
Keep the lens caps on when the magnifier is flipped aside, clean the glass with a lens brush and microfiber cloth, and check the mount screws after the first range session.
