Description
The Shark Coast Grassy Knoll AR-15 Pistol (Shark Coast part SCC04021) is a 10.5-inch 5.56 NATO pistol bundle in Shark Coast Tactical’s green Grassy Knoll Cerakote. It arrives with a Vortex SPARC red dot, a Streamlight ProTac rail light with pressure switch, an SBA3 brace, and a 30-round magazine.
Shark Coast Grassy Knoll AR-15 Pistol Overview
Shark Coast builds the Grassy Knoll on forged 7075-T6 upper and lower receivers, with a T-marked upper, forward assist, and ejection port cover. Our distributor data lists a 4150 CMV barrel with Melonite finish, a 1:7 twist, M4 feed ramps, a carbine-length gas system with a low profile gas block, a 1/2×28 threaded muzzle with an A2 flash hider, an M16 profile bolt carrier group, an M-LOK handguard, and dry film lubrication. A Magpul MOE grip completes the furniture.
Barrel and Accuracy
A 1:7 twist stabilizes heavier 62 to 77 grain bullets as well as standard 55 grain ammunition. A 10.5-inch barrel loses some velocity compared with a 16-inch carbine, so expect shorter effective range with light bullets, but inside 200 yards it remains very capable for home defense and range work. The chrome-moly barrel with Melonite treatment resists corrosion well.
Optic and Light
The Vortex SPARC is a compact red dot with a long battery life, well matched to this barrel length. The Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 2 with pressure switch lets you identify what you are aiming at without changing your grip. Check that the mounts are tight before your first range trip and recheck after a few hundred rounds.
Brace and Legal Notes
The ATF stabilizing brace rule published in 2023 was vacated by a federal court in 2024, but brace law has changed more than once, so keep up with current guidance. Adding a stock to a barrel under 16 inches creates a short-barreled rifle, an NFA item requiring an approved ATF Form 1 or Form 4 first.
Blast and Noise
Short 5.56 barrels are loud and produce significant muzzle flash and concussion, especially indoors. Wear hearing protection whenever possible, and consider that anyone beside you on the firing line will notice the blast as well. A suppressor helps but is an NFA item with its own paperwork.
Finish and Care
The Grassy Knoll Cerakote is a durable two-tone green finish, but no coating is scratch-proof; holster and case wear will show over time. The M16 bolt carrier group has a heavier profile that helps reliability. Keep it lubricated, especially in a short gas system.
State Laws and Ownership
AR-15 pistols are restricted or banned in several states, including California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Connecticut, Illinois, and Washington, and many limit magazine capacity. Check your state and local rules before ordering. Pennsylvania buyers complete the handgun transfer through a licensed dealer with a background check.
