Description
The Savage Mark II FVT 22 LR Peep Sight is a bolt-action 22 LR target rifle with a 21-inch heavy button-rifled barrel, metal peep sights, a matte black synthetic stock, and a 5-round detachable magazine. At about 6.12 pounds, it is built for marksmanship training, junior shooting programs, and anyone who wants tight groups with iron sights.
Savage Mark II FVT 22 LR Peep Sight Overview
The Mark II FVT takes Savage’s proven Mark II rimfire action and sets it up for precision with a heavy barrel and peep sights. A peep rear sight is one of the most accurate iron sight systems available: your eye naturally centers the front sight in the small rear hole, giving a consistent sight picture shot after shot. It is the same principle used in competitive smallbore and military marksmanship training.
Heavy Button-Rifled Barrel
The 21-inch carbon steel barrel has a heavy varmint contour and a matte finish. Button rifling with a 1:16 twist produces uniform grooves suited to standard 40-grain 22 LR target and hunting ammunition. The extra weight up front steadies your hold and keeps the rifle settled from the bench or in standing positions.
Peep Sights for Precision
Metal front and rear sights come installed, with a peep rear that helps you focus on the front post and the target. Peep sights teach proper sight alignment, work well in changing light, and make it easy to shoot accurately without a scope. Many shooters find that their iron-sight groups shrink noticeably after switching to a peep.
Rugged Synthetic Stock
The matte black synthetic varmint-style stock is durable and weather resistant. Its shape gives a stable hold and a comfortable length of pull of about 13.9 inches, fitting most teen and adult shooters. It will not warp or swell with humidity, so your zero stays put.
User-Adjustable Trigger
The Savage AccuTrigger lets you set pull weight from 2.5 to 6 pounds for a crisp, customized break. A clean trigger is essential for precision shooting, and the center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge.
Detachable Magazine
The rifle feeds from a 5-round detachable box magazine. The shorter magazine sits flush and out of the way, which suits slow-fire target work and keeps the profile clean in positional shooting.
Training and Practice
A heavy-barrel 22 LR with good iron sights is one of the best tools for building fundamentals. Ammunition is affordable, recoil is negligible, and you can focus completely on breathing, sight alignment, and trigger control. Shooting from prone, sitting, kneeling, and standing positions with this rifle builds skills that carry straight over to hunting rifles and competition.
