Description
The Savage A22 Takedown 22 LR is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle that breaks down quickly for travel, with an 18-inch threaded carbon steel barrel, a black synthetic stock with built-in storage, low-profile sights, a 0 MOA Picatinny rail, and a 10-round rotary magazine. It weighs about 6.3 pounds and packs easily into a backpack, boat, or camper.
Savage A22 Takedown 22 LR Overview
Savage designed this rifle to be the one you bring along on every outdoor trip. Camping, hiking, boating, or heading to the range, it separates into two compact pieces that slip into a pack, then goes back together in seconds without tools, ready to shoot. The 22 LR is the most popular cartridge in the world for good reason: ammunition is affordable and easy to find, recoil is almost nonexistent, and it is quiet enough for plinking, small game, and hours of practice.
Quick Takedown Design
Breaking the rifle open is simple: separate the barrel and forend assembly from the receiver, and the two halves stow side by side. Reassembly is just as fast, and the design returns the barrel to a consistent position so your point of impact stays where you expect it. A compact package means you are far more likely to have the rifle with you when you want it.
Threaded Barrel
The 18-inch carbon steel barrel has a matte black finish, a 1:16 twist matched to 22 LR bullets, and a muzzle threaded 1/2-28 for a muzzle device or suppressor where local law allows. The sporter profile keeps the rifle light and well balanced for carrying on long hikes.
Sights and Optics
Low-profile iron sights come installed for quick shooting right out of the box. A 0 MOA Picatinny rail with a channel that lets you see the iron sights through the rail gives you an easy place to mount a scope or red dot when you want more precision.
User-Adjustable Trigger
Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you set your own pull weight for a crisp, clean break. A light, predictable trigger makes small targets easier to hit and helps new shooters build good habits.
Smart Storage and Safety
The black synthetic stock has a storage compartment in the pistol grip for small essentials, and the cheek riser holds a spare magazine, so you always have extra rounds with the rifle. A cross bolt safety is easy to reach and operate. The 10-round rotary magazine feeds reliably and sits nearly flush with the stock.
Care and Cleaning
A little routine care keeps the Savage A22 Takedown 22 LR running smoothly and shooting accurately for years. After each outing, wipe down exposed metal, run a few patches through the bore, and keep the bolt lightly lubricated. Store the rifle in a dry place, check that the action screws stay snug, and recheck your zero before each season.
