Description
The Savage 93R17 BTVLSS 17 HMR Left Hand is a left-hand bolt-action varmint rifle with a 21-inch heavy stainless steel barrel, a brown laminate thumbhole stock, and a user-adjustable trigger. Built to drive tacks with the flat-shooting 17 HMR, it is a serious tool for groundhogs, prairie dogs, and long rimfire target work.
Savage 93R17 BTVLSS 17 HMR Left Hand Overview
The 93R17 BTVLSS is Savage’s heavy-barrel, thumbhole-stocked take on its proven Model 93 rimfire action, set up here for left-handed shooters. The bolt sits on the left side, so southpaws can run it with their strong hand and stay settled behind the scope. At about 7.25 pounds, it carries real heft for a rimfire, which helps it sit still on bags or a bipod and makes the light recoil of the 17 HMR almost disappear.
Heavy Stainless Barrel
The 21-inch stainless steel barrel has a heavy varmint contour, a satin finish, and button rifling with a 1:9 twist suited to 17-caliber bullets. The heavy profile resists heat and whip during long strings of fire, and stainless steel shrugs off moisture and corrosion. The receiver is stainless as well, and it comes with two-piece Weaver-style scope bases installed.
Laminate Thumbhole Stock
The laminated wood stock is stiff, stable, and handsome, with a custom thumbhole that puts your hand in a natural, vertical position for a straight-back trigger press. Laminate resists warping from moisture better than solid wood, and each stock has its own grain and color. Three nickel QD stud points give you room for a sling and a bipod, and a recoil pad finishes the butt.
User-Adjustable Trigger
The Savage AccuTrigger lets you set pull weight from 2.5 to 6 pounds. On a small target at 150 yards or more, a light and predictable break is a big advantage, and the center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge without adding creep.
Detachable Box Magazine
The rifle feeds from a 5-round detachable box magazine with an ambidextrous release. It keeps the profile low and tidy under the action and makes unloading quick and safe when you move between shooting spots.
Built for Varmints and Targets
The 17 HMR launches light bullets at very high velocity, giving a flat trajectory and dramatic terminal performance on small pests. Paired with a quality scope, this heavy-barrel rifle lets you take careful, precise shots at distances where a 22 LR runs out of steam.
