Description
The Savage 64 Takedown 22 LR is a compact semi-automatic 22 LR rifle that breaks down into two pieces for easy storage and transport. It pairs a 16 1/2-inch matte black barrel with a black synthetic stock, a 10-round magazine, and an included bug-out bag, and it weighs just about 4.5 pounds.
Savage 64 Takedown 22 LR Overview
Savage combined the accuracy and dependability of the original Model 64 with a quick takedown design to create a rimfire that is ready to go wherever you are. A barrel nut lets you separate the barreled action from the stock without tools, so the rifle packs into the included bag for a truck, boat, camper, or backpack. The proven straight-blowback action puts rounds downrange fast and reliably.
Compact 16.5-Inch Barrel
The 16 1/2-inch matte black carbon steel barrel keeps the rifle short and handy while delivering the accuracy the 64 is known for. Its 1:16 twist suits standard 22 LR ammunition, and the short length makes the rifle quick to point in the woods.
Easy Takedown Design
Loosen the barrel nut and the rifle comes apart in seconds. Reassembly is just as fast, and the design keeps the barrel and action together so your zero stays consistent when you reassemble at camp.
Included Bug-Out Bag
The rifle ships with a bug-out bag that holds the disassembled rifle and accessories. It keeps everything organized and discreet, making the 64 Takedown a natural fit for an emergency kit, a cabin rifle, or a survival setup.
Optics Ready and Detachable Magazine
The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts, so adding a compact optic is simple. The rifle feeds from a 10-round detachable box magazine for quick reloads.
Care and Practice
Blowback rimfires run best when kept reasonably clean, so wipe the bolt face and chamber after a long session and lightly oil the bolt rails. Try a few brands of 22 LR to find the load that groups best and cycles most reliably in your rifle, and keep a spare magazine or two in the bag.
Why a Takedown 22
A packable 22 LR is one of the most useful rifles you can own. Ammunition is light, compact, and affordable, so you can carry hundreds of rounds in the same space as a box of centerfire cartridges. That makes a takedown rimfire ideal for small game on a camping trip, pest control around the property, or practice at the range. Because the 64 Takedown stores small, it is easy to keep in a closet, a vehicle safe, or a cabin without taking up much room. Toss in a box of ammo and a spare magazine and you are set.
