Description
The Savage 64 G 22 LR Hardwood is a semi-automatic 22 LR rifle with a 21-inch satin-blued barrel, open sights, a 10-round detachable magazine, and a classic high-luster hardwood stock. At about 5 pounds, it brings traditional good looks to a dependable, fun-to-shoot rimfire.
Savage 64 G 22 LR Hardwood Overview
Savage says ten rounds have never been so much fun, and the 64 G pairs that fun with a classic wood stock. Its straight-blowback semi-automatic action is simple and reliable, with few moving parts to clean or maintain, and it feeds a wide range of 22 LR ammunition. The hardwood stock gives the rifle a traditional feel that many shooters prefer over synthetic.
21-Inch Satin-Blued Barrel
The 21-inch carbon steel barrel has a satin-blued finish and is balanced to the stock for a steady hold. Open sights come installed for quick shooting and teaching the basics of sight alignment, and the longer barrel adds sight radius compared to carbine-length rimfires.
High-Luster Hardwood Stock
The hardwood stock has a high-luster finish that looks sharp at the range and in the field. Wood is a natural material, so each stock shows its own grain and color.
Optics Ready
A grooved receiver accepts rimfire rings, so adding a compact scope or red dot is quick and easy for tighter groups or longer shots on small game.
10-Round Detachable Magazine
The rifle feeds from a 10-round detachable box magazine. Load spares before a range trip and remove the magazine to unload safely between strings.
Care and Accessories
Blowback rimfires run best when kept reasonably clean, so wipe the bolt face and chamber after a long session and add a light coat of oil to the bolt rails. Most 22 LR rifles prefer one load over another, so try a few brands of standard and high-velocity ammunition to find the one that groups best and cycles most reliably. Spare magazines, a sling, and a rimfire optic are smart first upgrades.
Built for Fun and Practice
A semi-auto 22 LR is one of the best ways to build real shooting skill. Ammunition is affordable, recoil is almost nonexistent, and the quiet report keeps sessions relaxed for new shooters and seasoned hands alike. Use it to sharpen trigger control and sight alignment before deer season, introduce kids and friends to the shooting sports, or simply spend an afternoon ringing steel and knocking over cans. Few rifles deliver as many smiles per dollar as a dependable Savage rimfire.
Why Choose Wood
Synthetic stocks are tough, but there is still something special about a wood-stocked rimfire. A hardwood stock adds a touch of heft that steadies your hold, it feels warm in cold weather, and it simply looks right on a squirrel rifle or a gift for a young shooter. Treat it to an occasional wipe with a light oil and it will keep its luster for years.
