Description
The Sauer 100 Classic XT is the entry point to German-made Sauer rifles. This model, S1S65CT, is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 22 inch threaded barrel, matte blued metal and a black Ergo Max synthetic stock. It holds 5+1 in a detachable magazine and weighs about 6.7 pounds bare, so it carries easily while still steadying well for a shot.

Sauer 100 Classic XT 6.5 Creedmoor Overview
Sauer cold hammer forges the barrel in Isny, Germany, and pairs it with a three-lug bolt that runs on a short 60 degree throw. The adjustable direct trigger and three-position safety are the same as on pricier Sauer 100 models. The Classic XT stock has a comb that slopes down toward the rear, which Sauer says keeps your head behind the scope and reduces felt recoil. The company advertises sub-MOA accuracy with good ammunition.
Three-Position Safety
In the rear position the safety locks both trigger and bolt. The middle position keeps the trigger blocked but lets you work the bolt to unload. Forward is fire. That middle setting is genuinely useful when you need to clear the chamber in a stand or at the truck without taking the rifle off safe.

Synthetic Stock for Hunting
The black Ergo Max polymer stock shrugs off rain and scrapes, and it does not swell or warp like wood. It is not as stiff as an aftermarket fiberglass stock, so for best accuracy shoot it from a rest under the fore-end rather than hanging heavy accessories off the barrel channel. Sling studs are standard.
Matte Blued Metal
Bluing gives a classic low-glare look but needs care. Wipe the barrel and action with a lightly oiled cloth after damp hunts, and check under the scope rings and in the bolt raceway for rust. If you hunt in heavy rain or salt air, a Cerakote model may be worth the upcharge.

Threaded Barrel
The 22 inch barrel is threaded for a brake, flash hider or suppressor. A suppressor is an NFA item that needs an approved ATF Form 4 and must be legal where you hunt; MAG5 Firearms does not sell NFA items. Distributor listings do not state the thread pitch for this model, so confirm it before buying a muzzle device.
Why 6.5 Creedmoor
Low recoil, a huge selection of factory ammunition and excellent long-range bullets make the 6.5 Creedmoor an easy recommendation for whitetails and range work. It is also a great cartridge for newer or smaller-framed hunters. Choose a quality expanding bullet for game and practice at the distances you expect to shoot.
State Laws and Ownership
Bolt-action hunting rifles are legal in most states, but some states and localities restrict threaded barrels, require specific hunting calibers or limit suppressor use. Hunting regulations also vary by species and season. Pennsylvania permits the 6.5 Creedmoor for deer and bear during rifle seasons. Check your state and local rules before you order.
