The Rock River Arms RRAGE 3G Rifle is the third generation of RRA’s value line AR-15, and it is a lot of rifle for the money. A 16 inch chrome moly barrel, a 15 inch free float M-LOK handguard and a carbine length gas system give it a specification that would have been a premium build a decade ago.
Where the RRAGE Sits in the RRA Line
Rock River builds two kinds of rifle: the LAR-15 models with match triggers and heavy barrels, and the RRAGE series aimed squarely at value. The RRAGE 3G keeps Rock River’s barrel work and receiver quality while using a single stage trigger and standard furniture to hold the price down.
Nothing about it is proprietary. The receivers are mil-spec aluminum with a Picatinny flat top, so any AR-15 optic, stock, grip or trigger you want to fit later will drop straight in.

The barrel is 16 inches of chrome moly with a 1:9 twist and a threaded muzzle wearing an A2 flash hider. A 1:9 twist covers everything from 55 to 69 grain bullets, which is where the vast majority of factory 5.56 and .223 ammunition lives.
Out front is a 15 inch free float M-LOK handguard, which is unusually long for a rifle at this price. Free floating means nothing you clamp to the rail touches the barrel, and 15 inches gives you room to run a hand well forward for control.
Gas System, Trigger and Furniture
A carbine length gas system with a low profile gas block sits under the handguard. Carbine length is the most common and best supported gas length in the AR world, so spare parts and tuning components are everywhere.
The trigger is a single stage unit and the stock is Rock River’s own six position tactical carbine stock with an A2 style grip. Both are standard interfaces if you decide to upgrade them.
Ammunition and Practical Accuracy
Chambered for 5.56 NATO, the rifle also shoots .223 Remington safely. Bulk 55 grain ball is the cheapest practice ammunition available, while 62 and 69 grain loads shoot tighter for anyone who wants more from the rifle. With a red dot and decent ammunition, hits on a torso target at 200 yards are routine.
