Description
The Rock River Arms Fred Eichler Predator2 is a .223 Wylde predator rifle developed with bowhunter and TV host Fred Eichler, guaranteed to shoot 3/4 MOA at 100 yards. This configuration wears a tan finish with an Operator CAR stock and a 16-inch cryo-treated fluted stainless barrel.
Three-Quarter MOA From a Factory AR
Most AR-15 makers quote nothing at all for accuracy, and the ones that do usually say 1 MOA. Rock River guarantees the Fred Eichler Predator2 to three-quarters of an inch at 100 yards. That is a meaningful difference on a coyote at 250 yards, and it comes from a combination of barrel treatment, chamber choice and trigger rather than from any single component.
Cryo-Treated Fluted Stainless Barrel
The 16-inch barrel is stainless steel, fluted, bead blasted and cryogenically treated. Cryo treatment relieves the stresses left in the steel by machining, which is what stops a barrel wandering as it warms up through a string of shots. Fluting sheds weight and speeds cooling. Twist is 1:8, which stabilises the heavier .224 bullets that predator hunters favour for wind performance.
.223 Wylde Chamber
The .223 Wylde chamber safely fires both 5.56mm NATO and .223 Remington while offering the tighter freebore that match .223 ammunition prefers. You get the flexibility of surplus ammunition and the precision of match loads from one rifle. That combination is exactly what the Rock River Arms Fred Eichler Predator2 is built around.
Mid-Length Gas System
A low profile gas block feeds a mid-length gas system, which lowers port pressure compared with a carbine-length setup on a 16-inch barrel. The result is a softer impulse and less disturbance to the sight picture between shots. When a second coyote presents itself three seconds after the first, that matters.
Frontier Edge Handguard and Brake
The extended free float handguard carries a full-length top rail plus 2.5-inch rail sections at three, six and nine o’clock, so a bipod, light and call all mount without crowding each other. Free floating keeps a loaded bipod from shifting point of impact. An RRA Frontier Edge brake sits on 1/2×28 threads at the muzzle.
Trigger, Charging Handle and Trigger Guard
RRA fits its two-stage Ultra Match Varmint trigger, a BCMGUNFIGHTER charging handle with a medium latch, and an expanded winter trigger guard that lets you shoot in heavy gloves. For a rifle designed to be used at dawn in February, the winter trigger guard is not a cosmetic detail.

Who Should Buy It
This is a predator rifle, and it is very good at that job. Coyote, fox and bobcat hunters calling at first light will appreciate the accuracy guarantee, the soft mid-length impulse and the winter trigger guard.
The Rock River Arms Fred Eichler Predator2 costs considerably more than a standard AR-15 because the barrel treatment, trigger and handguard are all upgrades rather than baseline parts. At 7.6 pounds it is also not the lightest 16-inch AR available.
Shooters who want a general-purpose defensive carbine will find better value in a standard 5.56 rifle, and anyone wanting a lighter walking gun should compare the Light Predator2L in our catalog. Every firearm we list ships to your chosen FFL and is transferred in accordance with federal and state law.
