Description
The Rock River Arms Fred Eichler Predator is the original rifle in the Fred Eichler Series, a .223 Wylde AR-15 with a 16-inch cryo-treated stainless barrel and a directionally tuned, ported muzzle brake. Rock River guarantees it to 3/4 MOA at 100 yards.
Designed With a Working Hunter
Fred Eichler has spent a career guiding and hunting predators, and the series carries his name because he specified what it needed rather than lending a signature to a catalogue rifle. Every feature on the Rock River Arms Fred Eichler Predator answers a problem someone actually meets on a stand at first light, from the trigger guard to the brake.
Directionally Tuned Ported Brake
The muzzle brake is ported to direct gas deliberately rather than simply venting it. That keeps the muzzle down and, just as importantly, keeps blast and dust out of your line of sight. Calling predators means shooting prone or from the ground more often than not. A brake that kicks up a cloud of dust costs you the follow-up shot, and this one is designed specifically to avoid that.
Cryo-Treated Stainless Barrel
The 16-inch stainless barrel is bead blasted and cryogenically treated. Cryo treatment relieves the internal stresses that machining leaves in steel, which is what keeps the barrel from shifting point of impact as it heats through a string. Combined with the .223 Wylde chamber, that is where the 3/4 MOA guarantee comes from.
.223 Wylde Chamber
The Wylde chamber safely fires 5.56mm NATO and .223 Remington while giving match ammunition the tighter freebore it needs to shoot its best. Practise with inexpensive ammunition, hunt with precision loads, one rifle.
Mid-Length Gas System
On a 16-inch barrel, a mid-length gas system lowers port pressure compared with the carbine length most ARs use. Unlocking is gentler, extraction is less violent and the sight picture is disturbed less between shots. For a rifle where the second shot often comes within seconds, that is a practical advantage rather than a specification.
Free Float Handguard and Cold-Weather Controls
The Fred Eichler Series free float handguard has a full length top rail for optics and night vision, and free floating means a loaded bipod cannot shift your zero. The rifle also carries a BCMGUNFIGHTER charging handle with a medium latch, an expanded winter trigger guard sized for heavy gloves, and RRA’s two-stage varmint trigger. One magazine and a case are included.

Who Should Buy It
This is a calling rifle for coyote, fox and bobcat hunters who want guaranteed accuracy, a soft-shooting gas system and controls that work in winter gloves. It also makes an excellent varmint rifle for prairie dogs and ground squirrels.
The Rock River Arms Fred Eichler Predator costs well above a standard AR-15, because the barrel, trigger, handguard and brake are all upgrades over baseline parts. A ported brake is also loud for anyone standing beside you.
Shooters who want a general-purpose defensive carbine will find better value in a standard 5.56 rifle, and anyone wanting the fluted barrel and rail sections should compare the Predator2 in our catalog. Every firearm we list ships to your chosen FFL and is transferred in accordance with federal and state law.
