Description
The Rock Island AL3.1 357 Mag Stainless is a revolver chambered in 357 Magnum.
Rock Island AL3.1 357 Mag Stainless Overview
S. brand of Philippine manufacturer Armscor, is one of the world’s largest makers of 1911 pistols and is known for durable, affordable firearms backed by a limited lifetime warranty. 357 Magnum revolvers with a compact frame, built for carry and home defense. Revolvers remain popular because they are simple to operate and very forgiving. There is no slide to rack and no magazine to seat, and a misfire is cleared by simply pulling the trigger again. The trade-off is capacity and reload speed, so a few speedloaders or moon clips are worth adding.
Practice the double action trigger pull regularly, because a smooth, steady press is the key to accuracy with any wheelgun.
Design and Features
They have a full-length ejector rod, a ramp front sight and a comfortable grip, in blued or stainless finishes. For carry, choose a holster that covers the trigger guard and holds the cylinder snugly, and practice reloading with speedloaders or speed strips until the motion is smooth. Keep the cylinder and forcing cone clean, since lead and carbon build up there first, and inspect the timing occasionally by watching the cylinder lock up as the hammer falls.
Handling and Carry
It is a dependable, affordable wheelgun.
Trigger and Controls
The double action pull is smooth and the single action crisp.
Sights and Optics
The factory sights give a clear, quick sight picture, and an optic-ready slide (where fitted) lets you add a red dot whenever you are ready.
The 357 Magnum Cartridge
The 357 Magnum offers a good balance of power, accuracy, and recoil for its intended use.
Setup and Accessories
Pick a holster made for your revolver’s frame size and barrel length, and add speedloaders or speed strips so you can reload quickly.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the revolver and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the breech face and slide rails. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
