Description
The Retay Antalya Jet Black is a 12 gauge semi-automatic built on Retay’s Inertia Plus rotating bolt, with a 30-inch barrel, a Turkish walnut stock and a jet black receiver. Inertia guns run clean and stay light because there is no gas system to foul, and Retay has spent the last decade refining the pattern rather than simply copying it.
Inertia Plus and a 30-Inch Barrel
Inertia Plus rotating bolt, which cycles on recoil energy rather than bled gas, so the action stays clean through a long day.
30-inch barrel with an 8 mm ventilated rib and a single fiber optic bead, a combination built for swinging on crossing birds and clays.
Deep bore drilled barrel and a factory-lengthened forcing cone, both of which smooth the shot column on its way out.
The Retay Antalya Jet Black weighs about seven pounds, light enough to carry all morning without being so light that it stops swinging.
Stock, Chokes and Controls
Turkish walnut stock and forend against a jet black receiver.
Five flush-fit chokes supplied: Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified and Full.
Push-button trigger group, removable without tools for cleaning.
Length of pull 14.5 inches, overall length 50 inches with the 30-inch barrel.
Aluminum receiver with no plastic components internally.

Inertia operation is worth understanding before buying one. Instead of tapping gas from the barrel to work the action, an inertia gun uses the rearward movement of the whole firearm against a spring in the bolt. There is no gas piston, no gas ports and far less fouling, which is why these guns go longer between cleanings and stay lighter up front. The trade is a slightly sharper felt recoil impulse than a gas gun gives, which Retay addresses with the stock geometry and recoil pad rather than with a gas system.
Why it is worth considering
- Inertia Plus action, clean running with no gas system to foul.
- 30-inch barrel for a long sighting plane and a smooth swing.
- Five chokes included rather than the usual three.
- Turkish walnut furniture at a price most competitors reserve for synthetic.
- Removable trigger group makes maintenance straightforward.
Who it suits
Waterfowl and upland hunters who want one gun for both, and sporting clays shooters who prefer a longer barrel, are the natural buyers. The 30-inch tube favors deliberate, sustained-lead shooting over quick snap shots in thick cover; if most of your shooting is grouse or woodcock at close range, the 28-inch version of the same gun handles faster.

Chokes, Shells and Care
The five supplied chokes cover most situations, but Retay guns take a widely available aftermarket pattern, so extended tubes are easy to find. Browse the catalog or look at the rest of the Retay range for the Antalya Elegant and the other models on the same action. Retay publishes full model specifications at Retay USA.
For clays, a 2-3/4 inch one-ounce target load such as the ATI 12 gauge target shell is the sensible everyday choice and cycles reliably in an inertia gun. For upland work, high velocity 6 shot gives more reach out of a 30-inch barrel. One caution with inertia guns: very light target loads can occasionally short-stroke a stiff new action, so break the gun in on standard-pressure shells before dropping to the lightest loads available.
Cleaning is simpler than on a gas gun. Because no gas is bled into the action, the bolt and receiver stay comparatively clean, and the removable trigger group lifts out without tools for the occasional deeper clean.
