Description

The POF USA P415 Edge Pistol is a piston-driven 5.56 NATO AR pistol with a 10.5-inch barrel, billet receivers and E2 dual extraction. It is one of the most heavily engineered short-barrel ARs on the market, and this build wears a tan Cerakote finish.

Gas Piston, Not Direct Impingement

Short-barrelled ARs are hard on themselves. A 10.5-inch barrel puts the gas port close to the chamber, which means high port pressure, violent unlocking and a lot of hot carbon dumped straight into the receiver. POF-USA’s answer is a carbine-length gas piston system with a five-position adjustable gas plug. Combustion gas never enters the upper receiver, so the POF USA P415 Edge Pistol runs cooler and cleaner, and the adjustable plug lets you tune it for suppressed or unsuppressed use.

E2 Dual Extraction

Four small channels are cut into the chamber walls. As the round fires, a measured amount of gas flows into those channels and pushes back against the case, breaking it free of the chamber wall before the extractor even begins to pull. That is E2 dual extraction, and on a short-barrelled rifle where extraction timing is most violent, it meaningfully reduces stress on the case rim and the extractor.

Heat Sink Barrel Nut

The oversized barrel nut extends three inches and acts as a heat sink, dissipating roughly seventeen times more heat than a standard AR barrel nut. On a gun designed for rapid strings, that keeps the barrel extension and the handguard from soaking up heat.

Billet Receivers and Ambidextrous Controls

Both receivers are billet aluminum, with a reinforced backbone on the upper. The Gen 4 P-415 lower is fully ambidextrous: selector, magazine release and bolt catch all work from either side, and the charging handle is an ambidextrous Strike Eagle unit. An integrated oversized trigger guard with grip relief lets the hand ride high, and the trigger is a single-stage drop-in breaking at 4.5 pounds.

Nine-Inch M-LOK Edge Rail

The free-floating EDGE rail runs nine inches with full M-LOK compatibility, leaving room for a light, laser and hand stop on a barrel this short. Free floating keeps accessories from affecting point of impact. The muzzle carries a three-prong flash hider on 1/2×28 threads, which does a genuinely good job of taming the fireball a 10.5-inch 5.56 produces.

Barrel and Bolt Carrier

The barrel is 4150 CrMoV steel, nitride heat treated, with 5R rifling and a 1:8 twist that stabilises everything from 55 to 77 grain bullets. The piston bolt carrier group is machined from a single billet of 8620 steel, nickel plated, and uses a roller cam pin to reduce friction and wear.
