PMC X-Tac 762×51 NATO 147gr FMJBT – Rugged Rifle Ammo

Description

The PMC X-Tac 762×51 NATO 147gr FMJBT load, item 762X, is a 20 round box of 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition from PMC, loaded with a 147 grain FMJ-BT bullet.

PMC X-Tac 762×51 NATO 147gr FMJBT Overview

PMC X-Tac is loaded to military specifications for shooters who want ammunition that matches what military and law enforcement agencies use in training and service. It is a popular choice for carbine courses, high-volume training and stocking up, with brass cases and sealed primers built for dependable function.

Bullet Design

The full metal jacket boat tail bullet has a tapered base that reduces drag, helping it hold velocity and resist wind drift downrange. The copper jacket keeps lead fouling down and feeds smoothly.

Intended Use

X-Tac is designed for training and practice that mirrors military ammunition, so point of impact and function closely match issue loads.

Firearm Compatibility

This ammunition is made for rifles chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, such as M1A and M14 pattern rifles, FAL and HK91 style rifles, and AR-10 pattern rifles marked for 7.62 NATO. Many 308 Winchester rifles also accept it; check your rifle maker’s guidance.

About PMC

PMC, short for Precision Made Cartridges, has built ammunition for decades and is based in Houston, Texas. Its lineup covers practice, training, match and hunting loads for handguns and rifles, with a focus on consistent, dependable performance at a fair price.

Recoil and Shootability

Recoil is moderate in a full-weight battle rifle or precision rifle. A good recoil pad and a solid shooting position keep longer sessions comfortable.

Choosing This Load

X-Tac makes sense for training that should match issue ammunition and for building a supply of dependable rifle ammunition. Its brass cases and consistent loading make it a good choice for carbine classes, drills and long days at the range.

About the Cartridge

The 7.62x51mm NATO served as the standard US military rifle cartridge before the 5.56 and is still used in machine guns and designated marksman rifles. Its civilian twin, the 308 Winchester, is one of the most popular hunting and target cartridges.

Brass Cases

PMC loads its centerfire ammunition in boxer-primed brass cases. Brass extracts reliably, resists corrosion and can be collected and reloaded by handloaders, which adds value to every box you shoot. Collect your fired cases at the range if you reload, and sort them by headstamp and caliber for easy processing later.

Range Safety

Always wear eye and ear protection, confirm the correct ammunition for your firearm before loading, and keep different calibers separated in your range bag. Treat every firearm as loaded, and know your target and what is beyond it.

Practice and Testing

Shoot a few groups with this load to learn where it prints in your firearm, and check function with full and partly loaded magazines. Keeping a consistent supply of the same load makes it easier to track your progress over time.

Storage and Care

Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original boxes, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect rounds before loading, and set aside any with dents, loose bullets or corrosion.
