Description
The North American Arms 22LR Oval Buckle pairs NAA’s classic 1-1/8 inch 22 Long Rifle mini-revolver with an oval ornate belt buckle that holds it in plain sight. The revolver is a real, five-shot stainless single action with wood grips; the buckle is a cast housing with a secure clip that releases the gun when you need it.
North American Arms 22LR Oval Buckle Overview
This is model NAA-22LR-BBO. The revolver weighs about 4.5 ounces and measures roughly 4 inches long, with fixed sights and a sheathed spur trigger. The buckle fits belts from 1 to 1-1/2 inches wide. NAA also sells 50th and 250th anniversary editions of the buckle and a 22 Magnum version; this listing is the standard oval ornate LR set with the wood-gripped stainless gun.
How the Buckle Works
The revolver sits in a fitted recess with the muzzle covered. A spring clip holds it until you press the release and lift the gun out. Fit your own belt, practice the draw with the gun unloaded, and get used to the angle. The housing is solid, but the buckle is heavier than an ordinary one, so a stiff gun belt works best.
Carry Reality Check
A belt buckle gun is in the open, even if most people never notice it. In many states a firearm worn this way still counts as concealed or open carry and needs a permit, and some places ban it outright. Treat it as a conversation piece and a last-ditch option, not your primary carry method.
Loading and Safe Carry
Every NAA mini loads the same way: press the base pin latch, pull the cylinder pin, drop the cylinder out, load or punch out the five rounds and reassemble. After loading, lower the hammer into one of the notches cut between the chambers so it never rests on a live rim. Practice this with an empty gun until it is automatic. This matters even more when the gun rides at your waist pointing sideways.
The Revolver Itself
Remove it from the buckle and it is a standard NAA 1-1/8 inch 22 LR mini, which means it fits NAA grips and holsters made for that model. The short barrel limits velocity and practical accuracy is close range, but it is the same proven design NAA has built in Utah since the 1970s.
Ammunition Notes
Standard 22 Long Rifle works in this cylinder. Round-nose and high-velocity loads tend to feed and fire most reliably in short-barreled minis. Rimfire priming is less consistent than centerfire, so test the brand you plan to carry.
State Laws and Ownership
Mini-revolvers are legal to own in most of the country, but several states limit which handguns a dealer may transfer. California, Massachusetts, Maryland and New York keep rosters or approval lists, and some cities require a purchase permit first. Concealed carry rules differ widely, and a permit is required in many states even for a revolver this small, so check your local law before you order.
