North American Arms 22LLR Holster Grip Overview
This is model NAA-22LLR-HG. The revolver itself is the standard 22LLR: five rounds of 22 LR, a 1-5/8 inch barrel, 4.5 inch length, 0.88 inch width and a weight of about 4.8 ounces, all stainless steel and built in Provo, Utah. One note: Lipsey’s lists the weight as 2.60 lbs, which is clearly a shipping figure; NAA lists the revolver at 4.8 ounces.
How the Holster Grip Works
The grip is a hinged synthetic shell. Folded, it covers the trigger and becomes the holster; to use the gun you flip it open until it locks, which gives your hand a full grip behind the frame. Practice opening it with the gun unloaded, because it takes a moment and is not a fast draw.
Pocket Carry
Folded, the gun is a flat, rounded package that rides well in a front pocket and does not print like a gun. Because the trigger is covered, it is a sensible option for people who do not want a separate pocket holster. Carry it alone in that pocket, away from keys and coins.
Loading and Safe Carry
Every NAA mini loads the same way: press the base pin latch, pull the cylinder pin, drop the cylinder out, load or punch out the five rounds and reassemble. After loading, lower the hammer into one of the notches cut between the chambers so it never rests on a live rim. Practice this with an empty gun until it is automatic. Remove the gun from the holster grip if your model requires it to pull the cylinder pin.
Shooting It
The open grip gives far more control than the standard rosewood bird head, and most shooters find it easier to keep shots together. It is still a short-barreled single action, so expect close-range accuracy and keep the support hand away from the muzzle.
Ammunition Notes
Standard 22 Long Rifle works in this cylinder. Use quality high-velocity round-nose ammunition, test it in your gun, and replace carry ammo periodically since rimfire priming can be inconsistent.
