Description
The North American Arms 22 Mag Boot Grip (22MGBG) is NAA’s 1-5/8 inch 22 Magnum mini-revolver fitted at the factory with the rosewood boot grip instead of the usual bird head. It is a five-shot stainless single action and was produced as a special run for Sports South.

North American Arms 22 Mag Boot Grip Overview
The boot grip is longer and squarer than the bird head, extending further below the frame so more of your hand wraps around it. The rest of the revolver is the standard 1-5/8 inch magnum mini: a 1.63 inch barrel, five-round cylinder with safety notches, sheathed spur trigger and half-moon front sight. NAA lists the standard model at 5.13 inches long and about 6.5 ounces; the boot grip adds a little length and height to the handle.
Why Choose the Boot Grip
The bird head grip is compact but gives most adults only a fingertip hold. The boot grip fills the palm better and gives your little finger somewhere to go, which helps control the sharper recoil of the 22 Magnum cartridge. The trade-off is a slightly larger profile, so it prints more in a shallow pocket than the bird head model.

Rosewood Feel and Care
Natural rosewood is smooth and warm in the hand, and the grain varies from gun to gun. It is less grippy than rubber when your hands are wet. An occasional coat of gun wax or furniture oil on the wood keeps it from drying out, and keeping solvent off the panels during cleaning protects the finish.
Shooting the 1-5/8 Inch Magnum
The longer barrel gives the 22 WMR a little more velocity and a slightly longer sight radius than the 1-1/8 inch model, which most owners find easier to shoot accurately. Expect a loud report and noticeable flash. Wear hearing protection, thumb-cock for every shot and keep your support hand well clear of the cylinder gap.

Carrying It
Lower the hammer into a notch between chambers after loading, and use a holster that covers the spur trigger. The boot grip fits many holsters cut for the magnum mini, but the extra grip length can change how deep it sits, so test the fit before carrying. Belt and boot holsters accommodate the larger handle better than tight pocket holsters.
A Special Run Model
Because this configuration came from a distributor special run rather than NAA’s standard catalog, it is less common on shelves than the bird head version. That can matter to collectors. Mechanically it is the same revolver, and NAA’s standard parts, holsters for the magnum frame and factory service all apply.
State Laws and Ownership
Before ordering, confirm that your state allows dealers to transfer this model. Roster states such as California and Massachusetts, permit states such as New Jersey and New York, and cities with their own handgun rules can block or delay a sale. A five-round capacity avoids magazine limits, but carrying the revolver concealed still requires a license in many states, and some locations ban carry entirely.
