Description
The Mossberg MVP Patrol Rifle 308 Win is a rifle chambered in 7.62mm NATO (308 Win) with a 16.25-inch barrel and a 10+1 capacity. It comes with a matte blue barrel finish, a synthetic (black) stock and a Picatinny rail for optics.
Mossberg MVP Patrol Rifle 308 Win Overview
The MVP is Mossberg’s bolt-action rifle designed to accept AR-style magazines. That means the same magazines you use in an AR-15 (in 5.56) or many AR-10 patterns (in 7.62 NATO) will work, a real convenience for shooters who already own them.
Design and Features
It uses a medium bull or fluted barrel, the adjustable LBA trigger, and a receiver with a Picatinny rail for optics. Many versions have a threaded muzzle for a brake or suppressor. This configuration has a matte blue barrel finish, a synthetic (black) stock, and a Picatinny rail for optics.
Handling in the Field
The MVP works well as a varmint, patrol, or precision rifle. Because it is a bolt action, it is legal in many places where semi-automatic rifles are restricted, while still using common magazines.
Action and Trigger
The two-lug bolt cycles smoothly and the LBA trigger is adjustable for weight and breaks cleanly. The safety is a two-position tang design.
Sights and Optics
Mount the optic of your choice with quality rings or a mount, and zero it with the load you plan to use.
The 7.62mm NATO (308 Win) Cartridge
The 308 Winchester is a proven, accurate full-power cartridge with plenty of energy for big game and long-range target work.
Setup and Accessories
Start with a quality optic and solid rings or a mount, then add a sling for carrying and a bipod or shooting bag for steady rests. Test a few loads for accuracy and settle on the one your rifle likes best. A hard case protects your investment on the way to the range or the field.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the rifle and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the bolt face and chamber. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
Product Notes
Before the season, zero the rifle with the exact load you plan to hunt with, then confirm the zero at a couple of distances so you know your holdovers. Keep a record of the scope settings and the load, and recheck zero after any knock or long trip. Practice from field positions such as sitting and kneeling, not just from the bench.

Magazine capacity limits, feature restrictions, and transfer rules vary by state and locality. Check your local laws before ordering, and ask your receiving dealer if you are unsure whether this configuration is legal where you live.
