Mossberg Maverick SA 12GA 28 Overview
The Maverick SA is a gas-operated 12 gauge semi-auto built as a multi-season workhorse. Its adjustable length-of-pull stock lets you fit the gun to different shooters and clothing, from early-season doves to late-season ducks.
Design and Features
It has a 28-inch vent rib barrel, a fiber optic front sight, a five-piece sport choke set, a cross-bolt safety, and a 5+1 capacity.
Handling in the Field
Mossberg shotguns are built to be dependable year after year with simple maintenance. This model mounts naturally and swings smoothly, and it is ready for the field, range, or home defense right out of the box.
Action and Trigger
The semi-automatic action cycles quickly for fast follow-up shots. Run a few boxes of your preferred loads to confirm reliable cycling.
Sights and Optics
Sights: Front Fiber Optic. Pattern your load and choke combination before hunting.
The 12 Gauge Cartridge
The 12 Gauge is the most versatile shotgun chambering, with loads for everything from clays and birds to buckshot and slugs.
Setup and Accessories
Set your shotgun up for its job: hunters will want a sling and a few choke tubes, clay shooters may add a recoil pad, and a home-defense setup benefits from a weapon light. Pattern every load and choke combination you plan to use.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the shotgun and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the action and choke threads. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
State Laws
Magazine capacity limits, feature restrictions, and transfer rules vary by state and locality. Check your local laws before ordering, and ask your receiving dealer if you are unsure whether this configuration is legal where you live.
