Magnum Research BFR 45 Colt 410 7.5 stainless single action revolver

Magnum Research BFR 45 Colt 410 7.5 Overview

Magnum Research builds the BFR, short for Biggest Finest Revolver, in Minnesota, and every one is made from stainless steel with a brushed finish. 410 bore shotshells. The barrel is cut rifled rather than button rifled, a method that delivers excellent accuracy with both lead and jacketed bullets. Fit is tight and the action is smooth, with a trigger pull of about 4 to 5 pounds. Sights are a black fixed front and an adjustable rear so you can zero for your favorite load.

5 to 5 pounds soaks up recoil and keeps the muzzle steady. The cylinder holds six rounds.

45 Long Colt and 410 Versatility

Being able to shoot two very different loads makes this BFR one of the most practical big revolvers you can own. Load .45 Long Colt for deer, hogs and black bear at handgun ranges, or switch to .410 shotshells for snakes, small pests and close-range defense on the trail. Many owners mix loads, with a shotshell up first followed by solid bullets.

Cut Rifled Barrel and Stainless Build

Cut rifling takes longer to produce but gives clean, precise grooves that shoot accurately. Combined with the strong stainless frame and tight tolerances, the BFR is known for groups that rival much more expensive custom revolvers. Stainless steel also stands up well to sweat, rain and the conditions you meet in the field.

Hunting and Carry Tips

A quality chest or hip holster makes a heavy revolver much easier to carry in the field. Practice with the loads you plan to hunt with, confirm your point of impact at the distances you expect to shoot, and always use ammunition that is appropriate for your revolver and its chambering.

Practice and Training

Regular practice builds confidence and safe handling. Start at close range, focus on sight alignment and a smooth trigger press, and work back as your groups tighten. Dry fire with snap caps at home to improve your trigger control between range trips.

Choosing Ammunition

Try several brands and bullet weights to see what feeds reliably and groups best in your handgun. Use quality full metal jacket loads for practice and proven hollow points for defense, and confirm reliable function with your defensive load before carrying it.

Care and Maintenance

Clean the barrel, slide or cylinder and frame after shooting, apply a light coat of quality lubricant to moving parts, and store the handgun unloaded in a locked case or safe away from children.

Safe Storage

Store handguns unloaded in a locked safe, lockbox or with a cable lock, and keep ammunition separate when children are in the home. Quick access safes keep a defensive handgun secure but available. Teach everyone in the household basic firearm safety rules.

Recommended Accessories

A quality holster, spare magazines, eye and ear protection and a cleaning kit round out any handgun purchase. For defensive use, add a weapon light and practice drawing safely from your holster with an unloaded gun before carrying.
