Buying ammunition by the box from the same production lot keeps velocity and point of impact consistent from one range trip to the next. Keep a record of the load you carry, check your ammunition for dents or loose bullets from time to time, and rotate your carry rounds so the ones in your firearm stay fresh. These simple habits help you get the full performance Hornady builds into every cartridge.

Before you trust any new load, fire enough rounds through your firearm to confirm it feeds, fires and ejects reliably and that the point of impact matches your sights. Full-power loads produce more recoil and muzzle blast than typical range ammo, so practice with the Hornady 7mm Rem Mag 162gr SST Superformance until you are comfortable with it, and store the rest in a cool, dry place in the original box.

The 7mm Remington Magnum was introduced in 1962 and quickly became one of the most popular magnum hunting cartridges in North America. It offers a flat trajectory and plenty of energy for elk, moose and long shots on deer, while producing less recoil than most .30 caliber magnums, which helps hunters shoot it accurately in the field.
