Description
The Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot is the simplest optic in the Comp family and that is the entire proposition. One 6 MOA red dot, the biggest window in the 407 range, manual brightness, and nothing else to think about. Part HS407COMP-RD-6.

What It Deliberately Leaves Out
Worth stating plainly, because most listings will not. The Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot has no solar panel, no automatic brightness, and no selectable reticle. Its siblings have all three.
That is a specification sheet with gaps in it, and it is also the reason some shooters will prefer it. Automatic brightness is excellent until a white wall or a headlight fools it. A reticle menu is useful until you change it by accident. Every feature is also a thing that can behave in a way you did not intend at the worst moment. The Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot gives you a dot, a brightness control you set yourself, and a lockout to freeze it there.
The Big Window Is Still Here
What the Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot does not give up is glass. The window on the Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot is 1.1 by 0.87 inches, the same as the more expensive Comp models and the largest in the 407 line. Multi coated, parallax free, unlimited eye relief.
That combination is unusual and it is the real reason to look at this sight. Large windows normally come bundled with complicated reticles, because manufacturers assume anyone paying for glass wants features in it. Here you get the glass and a bare 6 MOA dot, which is the fastest sight picture a pistol can have: enormous view, one thing in it, nothing to resolve on the draw.
Six MOA Against Six Inches
The 6 MOA dot on the Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot covers an inch and a half at twenty five yards and three inches at fifty. Set that against what a pistol is actually shot at and the precision objection mostly evaporates, while the speed advantage grows the closer you get.
The larger reticle is quicker to find on the draw, easier to track through recoil, and more forgiving when the gun does not arrive perfectly presented. On the Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot it sits in a window big enough that it is almost impossible to lose, which is exactly what you want for a stage clock or a defensive gun.
Red At 650 Nanometres, And An Honest Comparison
The Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot runs at 650nm, and red emitters are the most electrically efficient of the three colors Holosun offers, and red is what most shooters have trained on. Where red loses is contrast against warm backgrounds: brick, rust, brown cardboard, timber. Against white or painted steel it holds up perfectly well.
One number worth knowing if you are comparing across the family. The green 407COMP is published at 100,000 hours; the Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot is published at 50,000 hours at brightness setting six on the same CR1632. Fifty thousand hours is still five and a half years of continuous running, and with Shake Awake sleeping the sight whenever the pistol sits still you are nowhere near continuous. But the numbers are different and you should hear it from us rather than find it later.
RMR Footprint, IP67, 5000G
The Holosun HS407COMP Red Dot uses the RMR footprint, the most widely supported pattern available, so it fits the slides and plates most people already own. The housing is 7075 T6 aluminum, anodized black, rated IP67 for dust and immersion and tested to 5000G of vibration, in a body of 1.8 by 1.3 by 1.3 inches at 1.7 ounces.
Adjustments move 1 MOA per click across 30 MOA of travel each way, and the battery loads from a side tray so a fresh cell never disturbs the mounting screws or the zero. Working temperature is rated from minus thirty to sixty degrees Celsius.
