A Ring In A Small Window Is Not A Compromise
Conventional wisdom says a circle dot reticle like the one in the Holosun HE507K X2 Green Dot belongs on a big optic, because a 32 MOA ring needs room. The window here is 0.58 by 0.77 inches, which is small by any standard.
But the argument for the ring gets stronger as the window gets smaller, not weaker. The hardest part of shooting a micro optic is finding the dot, because a small window is unforgiving of an imperfect presentation. A ring that nearly fills the glass is impossible to miss, and it drags your eye to the center where the dot sits. The Holosun HE507K X2 Green Dot uses the ring to solve the exact problem that micro optics create.
Two MOA On A Carry Gun
Most micro optics ship with a 6 MOA dot rather than the 2 MOA in the Holosun HE507K X2 Green Dot on the reasoning that carry guns are speed tools. That is a defensible choice and Holosun sells it in the 407K. This sight makes the other argument.
A 2 MOA dot covers half an inch at twenty five yards. On a micro compact pistol, which is already the hardest gun in the safe to shoot accurately, a fine reticle is the one part of the system that is not working against you. Run the Holosun HE507K X2 Green Dot with circle and dot together and you get both: the ring finds the target fast, the dot lets you actually shoot it. That combination is why the MRS exists.
Ten Daylight Settings And Two For Night Vision
The brightness spread on the Holosun HE507K X2 Green Dot is ten daylight settings and two night vision settings, which is a different split from most of the Holosun line. Eight and four is the usual arrangement.
Ten daylight steps means finer control in the range you actually live in. The difference between a dot that is correctly bright and one that is a click too bright is the difference between a crisp 2 MOA reticle and a blurred one, and on a small dot that matters more than on a big one. More steps means you can find the right one rather than settling for the nearest.
One Ounce, And Why That Number Matters Here
The Holosun HE507K X2 Green Dot weighs one ounce in a body measuring 1.6 by 0.98 by 0.95 inches. On a full size pistol an extra half ounce above the bore is academic. On a micro compact it is not.
A small gun has less mass to absorb recoil and a shorter slide to do it with. Weight added high up changes how the pistol tracks, and the lighter the optic the less it disturbs the gun you already find hard to shoot. The housing is 7075 T6 aluminum, anodized, rated IP67 for dust and immersion and tested to 5000G of vibration, so the ounce is not bought with fragility.
Shake Awake, Lock Mode, Side Tray
Shake Awake sleeps the Holosun HE507K X2 Green Dot when the pistol is still and wakes it on movement, which is how a CR1632 reaches 50,000 hours at brightness setting six. Lock mode disables the buttons entirely, so a holster, a seatbelt or a car seat cannot quietly change your brightness or your reticle without you knowing.
