Holosun EPS Carry Green 2 MOA Overview

Holosun designed the EPS Carry for pistols like the Glock 43X MOS, Glock 48 MOS and SIG P365 family, where a full-size optic hangs over the slide. The housing is machined from 7075 T6 aluminum and the window measures 0.77 by 0.58 inches, which is small but clean with very little tint thanks to the aspheric lens. Deck height is low enough that many factory iron sights still co-witness through the window, and Holosun adds a rear notch on top of the housing as a backup aiming reference if the battery ever dies.

Why a 2 MOA Green Dot

A 2 MOA dot covers about two inches at 100 yards and roughly half an inch at 25 yards, so it lets you hold precisely on small targets without covering them. Green at 540nm is easier for most eyes to pick up in bright daylight than red, and many shooters with astigmatism report a rounder, less starburst-shaped dot with green. The trade-off is that a smaller dot can be slower to find during your first draws if you are new to pistol optics. If raw speed matters more than precision, look at the 6 MOA version instead.

Enclosed Emitter Advantages

Open-emitter sights leave the LED exposed between the lens and the base. Pocket lint, sweat, snow or a drop of rain can sit on that emitter and make the dot disappear at the worst moment. The EPS Carry seals the LED inside a box with glass on both ends, so the only routine maintenance is wiping the lenses. For an everyday carry gun that rides against your body in an inside-the-waistband holster, that sealed design is the main reason to choose this sight over a cheaper open micro dot.

Battery, Shake Awake and Controls

Battery life is rated at 50,000 hours on setting 6, and the cell slides out of a side tray, so you never have to remove the optic and lose zero to change it. Shake Awake puts the sight to sleep when the gun sits still and wakes it the instant it moves. There are 8 daylight settings and 4 night vision settings, the last brightness used is remembered, and a lockout mode keeps the buttons from being bumped while the gun is holstered.

Mounting and Fitment

The EPS Carry mounts directly to the K footprint used by the Holosun 407K and 507K, and Holosun includes an RMSc to K adapter plate in the box for slides cut for the Shield RMSc pattern. Before buying, confirm what your slide is cut for. Some MOS and factory optic cuts need a separate plate, and that plate is sold separately. Use thread locker on the screws and torque them to the plate maker’s spec, because loose screws are the most common reason a sight loses zero.

Honest Limitations

The small window is the price of a carry-sized enclosed optic. It is less forgiving of an imperfect draw than a full-size sight such as the standard EPS or a 509T, so plan to practice your presentation with dry fire. The housing is also a little taller than some open micro sights, which can affect holster fit, so make sure your holster is cut for an optic. There are cheaper open-emitter carry dots on the market, but none of them offer the same protection from weather and debris.
