Enclosed, Carry Sized, And Still Solar
Three things rarely arrive together in one sight, and the Holosun EPS Carry Gold MRS has all three. Enclosed emitters are usually reserved for full size housings because there is more room to seal. Solar panels need surface area. Carry sized optics are where both normally get dropped.
The emitter is sealed inside the housing so holster lint, rain, sweat and sunscreen cannot land on it and dim the reticle. A solar panel sits on top and will run the sight on ambient light alone if the CR1620 dies or is removed. And the whole thing weighs 1.23 ounces on a 1.63 by 1.07 by 0.95 inch body, which is genuinely carry sized rather than nearly carry sized.
A Circle In A Carry Window
The Holosun EPS Carry Gold MRS window measures 0.77 by 0.58 inches, which is small, and the received wisdom says a 32 MOA ring needs more room than that. The received wisdom has it backwards.
The hardest part of running a small optic is finding the dot, because a small window punishes any presentation that is not perfect. A ring that nearly fills the glass is impossible to miss and pulls your eye straight to the centre where the dot is waiting. The Holosun EPS Carry Gold MRS uses the circle to solve the problem the small window creates, then lets you switch to the bare 2 MOA dot once your draw is grooved. Both come from the same emitter, so nothing needs re-zeroing.
Gold On A Gun That Goes Anywhere
The Holosun EPS Carry Gold MRS emits at 590nm, a reticle colour almost nobody builds a line around, and on a carry gun it has the best argument of the three. Red loses contrast against brick, rust, timber and brown clothing. Green loses it against grass, foliage and painted steel.
A defensive pistol does not choose its backdrop. The Holosun EPS Carry Gold MRS picks the wavelength that belongs to neither failure case, which is a sensible answer to a problem you cannot plan for. If you have ever lost a dot against a wall and blamed your eyes, the reticle colour may have been the real culprit.
The Plate Is In The Box
The Holosun EPS Carry Gold MRS mounts directly to a K footprint slide, and Holosun includes an RMSc to K adapter plate. That matters because the world the Holosun EPS Carry Gold MRS lives in is split between those two cuts, and which one your pistol has is not always obvious from the marketing.
Having both covered from the box removes a common and annoying failure: buying a sight, discovering the footprint is wrong, and waiting on a plate before you can shoot it. Confirm your cut with us anyway and we will save you the guess.
What To Know About The Adjustments
Adjustments on the Holosun EPS Carry Gold MRS move 1.5 MOA per click across 30 MOA of travel in each direction. That is coarser and shorter than the full size 407 and 507 optics, which use 1 MOA clicks and up to 50 MOA of range.
On a true slide cut this is ample and you will never see the limit. Mounted through a stacked plate on a pistol that already points slightly off, it is less headroom than you may be accustomed to. If a previous optic fought you on that gun, say so before you order and we will check the numbers with you rather than let you find out at the range.
