Sealed, Because A Carry Gun Lives In A Holster
An open reflex sight, unlike the Holosun EPS Carry Gold 6 MOA, fires its emitter upward from a shelf at a lens. It works until something lands on that emitter, and a carry gun spends its life collecting exactly the things that do: holster lint, sweat, sunscreen, gun oil, rain running off a jacket.
The Holosun EPS Carry Gold 6 MOA has no exposed emitter to foul. The whole assembly is sealed inside the housing with glass at both ends, so there is nothing for debris to land on and nothing to wipe before you can trust the dot. That is the reason enclosed sights have taken over duty and carry use, and the reason to pay the small weight penalty over an open sight.
Six MOA And No Menu
The sibling of the Holosun EPS Carry Gold 6 MOA carries a 2 MOA dot with a 32 MOA circle and a reticle you can change. This one has a single 6 MOA dot and nothing to press.
That is a real choice rather than a cheaper one. A 6 MOA dot covers an inch and a half at twenty five yards, comfortably inside anything a defensive pistol engages, and it is markedly faster to find on a draw from concealment than a fine reticle. With no menu on the Holosun EPS Carry Gold 6 MOA there is nothing to change by accident, nothing to relearn after six months away, and nothing between you and the dot. For a gun that gets carried constantly and shot occasionally, simple is a genuine feature.
Gold Is The Carry Argument
At 590nm the Holosun EPS Carry Gold 6 MOA emits between red and green, and on a gun that might be used anywhere that is the strongest case of the three. Red loses contrast against brick, rust, timber and brown clothing. Green loses it against grass, foliage and painted steel.
You do not get to pick the backdrop for the Holosun EPS Carry Gold 6 MOA in a defensive situation. Choosing the wavelength that belongs to neither failure case is a sensible hedge against a problem you cannot plan around, and it is the reason to look at gold rather than dismiss it as the unusual option.

Adjustments move 1.5 MOA per click across 30 MOA of travel each way, which is coarser and shorter than the full size 407 and 507 optics. On a true slide cut that is ample. Through a stacked plate on a pistol that already points slightly off it is less headroom than you may expect, so if a previous optic gave you zeroing trouble on that gun, mention it before you order. The CR1620 is rated 50,000 hours at setting six and loads from a side tray, so a battery change never disturbs your zero.
