Hi-Point C9 9mm Pistol OD Green – Reliable 3.5″ Compact, 8+1

Description

The Hi-Point C9 9mm Pistol OD Green gives Hi-Point’s compact single-stack 9mm a military-inspired olive drab slide and frame, a low-key alternative to the standard black.

Hi-Point C9 9mm Pistol OD Green Overview

It is the standard C9 mechanically: a 3.5-inch fixed barrel, an 8-round magazine, three-dot sights with an adjustable rear, a manual thumb safety and roughly 29 ounces at 6.75 inches long. The OD green color is applied to both slide and frame, giving the pistol a uniform look that pairs well with tan or green holsters and range gear. The weight makes recoil mild for a compact 9mm, while the blowback slide still gives it a sharp feel.

Blowback Design and Build

The C9 uses a straight blowback action with a fixed barrel, a polymer frame and a heavy slide. The fixed barrel helps practical accuracy and the simple design keeps the price low, but the slide mass is why these pistols weigh more than polymer guns of similar size. Hi-Point builds them with American-made parts and assembly and covers them with a lifetime warranty that follows the gun to later owners.

Sights, Safety and Controls

The C9 uses three-dot sights with a fully adjustable rear, so you can zero it for your preferred load. A manual thumb safety and a slide that locks open after the last round are standard, and Hi-Point rates the pistol for +P ammunition. The magazine release sits behind the trigger guard, and the blowback slide rewards a firm grip for reliable cycling.

Living With the OD Green C9

Colored finishes show holster wear sooner than black, especially at the muzzle and slide edges, and solvent splashes can leave marks, so clean the exterior gently. The C9 is a practical choice for a pistol that lives in a nightstand or a vehicle safe; never leave one loose in a glovebox, where it can be stolen and where some states regulate how it may be stored. A lockable case keeps it secure and protects the finish.

Recoil, Size and Ammunition

The 3.5-inch barrel and 29-ounce weight make the C9 soft-shooting for a compact 9mm, though the blowback slide gives recoil a sharper feel than the weight suggests. The single-stack 8-round magazine keeps capacity modest, and Hi-Point also offers a 10-round magazine. At 6.75 inches long with a thick slide, the C9 is easier to keep at home than to carry all day, and holster fit is specific to this frame.

Honest Caveats

Hi-Point pistols trade refinement for price. They are heavy and thick for their size, the trigger is long and gritty, and holster and magazine choices are far narrower than for mainstream polymer pistols. Takedown takes a punch rather than a lever. Resale value is modest, and a weak grip can cause stoppages, so practice with a firm hold. Holster makers often list only black C9 models, but fit is the same for any finish.

State Laws and Ownership

Pennsylvania buyers 21 and older can purchase this pistol through a dealer, and carrying it concealed or in a vehicle generally requires a License to Carry Firearms. Other states are stricter: some keep a roster of approved handguns, some cap magazine capacity, some restrict threaded barrels on pistols, and many require a purchase permit. Check your state and local rules before ordering.
