Grizzly 380 Auto 90gr JHP – Reliable Defense Ammo

Description

The Grizzly 380 Auto 90gr JHP load, item GC380A2, is a 20 round box of 380 Auto ammunition from Grizzly Cartridge Company, loaded with a 90 grain jacketed hollow point bullet rated at 1100 fps with 242 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Grizzly recommends it for shooting and self defense.

Grizzly 380 Auto 90gr JHP Overview

The 380 Auto is one of the most popular cartridges for deep concealment, and pocket pistol owners need a load that balances expansion, penetration and reliable function. This Grizzly load uses a standard-pressure 90 grain jacketed hollow point rated at 1100 fps with 242 foot-pounds of energy. Standard pressure means it is suitable for any 380 pistol in good condition, including older designs and lightweight polymer pistols not rated for +P ammunition.

Bullet Design

A jacketed hollow point opens up on impact, increasing its frontal area and transferring energy to the target while limiting over-penetration compared with solid bullets. Grizzly loads its JHP rounds for self-defense and general shooting, with a jacket designed to hold together as the bullet expands. In a small cartridge like the 380 Auto, a reliable expanding bullet is especially important.

Intended Use

Grizzly lists this load for shooting and self-defense. It is a practical carry round for small 380 pistols and a good choice for confirming function and point of impact with the same load you carry. For shooters whose pistols are rated for it, Grizzly also offers a faster +P version with the same bullet weight.

Firearm Compatibility

This ammunition is made for handguns chambered in 380 ACP, also called 380 Auto or 9mm Kurz, such as the Ruger LCP and LCP II, the Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 380, the Glock 42, the SIG P238 and P365-380. Do not fire it in a 9mm Luger, 9mm Makarov or 38 Super firearm. Small pistols can be sensitive to bullet shape, so confirm feeding with a full magazine.

Grizzly Cartridge Company

Grizzly Cartridge Company is an American ammunition maker known for heavy, hard-hitting loads for hunters, outdoorsmen and handgunners who carry in bear country, along with cowboy action, defense and safari ammunition. Its loads are made in the USA, and many are built to run at the upper end of what each cartridge allows, so always match the load to your firearm.

Recoil and Shootability

The 380 Auto is a mild cartridge, but very small pistols can still feel snappy. Practice with your carry load so its recoil and point of impact are familiar from your pistol.

Practice and Testing

Fire at least a box through your own firearm before you rely on this load for hunting, competition or protection. Confirm reliable feeding and extraction, and check where it prints at the distances you expect to shoot, since heavy or fast loads often hit to a different point than light practice ammunition.

Storage and Care

Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original box, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect rounds for dents, loose bullets or corrosion before loading.
