Grizzly 380 Auto 90gr JHP +P – Powerful Defense Ammo

Description

The Grizzly 380 Auto 90gr JHP +P load, item GC38A1, is a 20 round box of 380 Auto +P ammunition from Grizzly Cartridge Company, loaded with a 90 grain jacketed hollow point bullet rated at 1200 fps with 288 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Grizzly recommends it for shooting and self defense.

Grizzly 380 Auto 90gr JHP +P Overview

Grizzly loads this 380 Auto to +P pressure to get more performance from a small cartridge. The 90 grain jacketed hollow point is rated at 1200 fps with 288 foot-pounds of energy, a meaningful step up over the standard-pressure version at 1100 fps and 242 foot-pounds. That extra speed helps the bullet expand from the short barrels of pocket pistol designs, which often struggle to drive a 380 hollow point fast enough for consistent expansion.

Bullet Design

A jacketed hollow point opens up on impact, increasing its frontal area and transferring energy to the target while limiting over-penetration compared with solid bullets. In a small cartridge like the 380 Auto, extra speed from +P loading helps the hollow point expand more reliably, especially from the short barrels typical of pocket pistols.

Intended Use

Grizzly lists this load for shooting and self-defense. It is intended for concealed carry in 380 pistols rated for +P ammunition. Practice with the same load you carry to confirm reliable feeding and point of impact. If your pistol is not rated for +P, choose Grizzly standard-pressure 380 Auto instead.

Firearm Compatibility

This ammunition is loaded to +P pressure and is made for handguns chambered in 380 ACP (380 Auto) that are rated for +P ammunition. Many modern compact 380 pistols handle +P loads, but check your owner manual before use, especially with older or lightweight designs. Do not fire it in a 9mm Luger, 9mm Makarov or 38 Super firearm, and confirm feeding with a full magazine.

Grizzly Cartridge Company

Grizzly Cartridge Company is an American ammunition maker known for heavy, hard-hitting loads for hunters, outdoorsmen and handgunners who carry in bear country, along with cowboy action, defense and safari ammunition. Its loads are made in the USA, and many are built to run at the upper end of what each cartridge allows, so always match the load to your firearm.

Recoil and Shootability

+P pressure adds some snap in small 380 pistols, though the cartridge remains mild compared with 9mm. Practice with your carry load so its recoil and point of impact are familiar from your pistol.

Practice and Testing

Fire at least a box through your own firearm before you rely on this load for hunting, competition or protection. Confirm reliable feeding and extraction, and check where it prints at the distances you expect to shoot, since heavy or fast loads often hit to a different point than light practice ammunition.

Storage and Care

Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original box, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect rounds for dents, loose bullets or corrosion before loading.
