Description

The Grand Power Stribog SP9A3 9mm Braced is the third-generation Stribog: a roller-delayed 9mm pistol with an 8-inch threaded barrel, an SB Tactical folding brace and a black aluminum and polymer receiver. It uses Stribog 30-round magazines and is built in Slovakia by Grand Power and imported by Global Ordnance.

Grand Power Stribog SP9A3 9mm Braced Overview

Grand Power redesigned the Stribog as the A3 to answer the main criticism of the original SP9A1, a sharp blowback recoil impulse. The A3 bolt uses rollers that delay unlocking, so the gun moves less, cycles more smoothly and is easier on optics. The upper is aluminum with a continuous top rail, a short bottom rail and side M-LOK slots, and the polymer lower takes an AR-style grip and an AR-pattern trigger. Controls are ambidextrous, and the charging handle does not move when the gun fires.

Roller-Delayed Advantage

Shooters who have tried both generations usually describe the A3 as flatter, with less bolt slam and a quicker return to target. That helps on timed courses and makes a red dot easier to keep on target. The delayed action also allows a lighter bolt, which keeps overall weight near 5 pounds. The roller system has a few more small parts than a blowback gun, so follow the factory cleaning and lubrication guidance.

Barrel and Suppressor Use

The 8-inch barrel is threaded and ships with a thread protector. Because the action stays closed longer, the A3 tends to blow less gas back toward the shooter than a blowback carbine when suppressed, a common complaint with pistol-caliber carbines. A suppressor is an NFA item that needs an approved ATF Form 4, a long wait and state legality, so budget for time as well as money.

Magazines and Sights

The SP9A3 feeds from Stribog 9mm magazines, translucent polymer units offered in 10, 20 and 30 rounds, and the same magazines work in the SP9A1. Distributors list three 30-round magazines with this version. These are not Glock pattern; the SP9A3G is the Glock-magazine model. Flip-up sights ride on the rail, and the long top rail leaves room for a red dot and a magnifier.

SB Tactical Brace

The SB Tactical folding brace opens for a steadier hold and folds to the side to shorten the gun for storage. The ATF rule of 2023 that reclassified many braced pistols was vacated by federal courts in 2024, but brace regulation has changed repeatedly and some states take their own approach, so stay current. Add an angled grip or handstop rather than a vertical foregrip, which can create an NFA item on a pistol.

Honest Caveats

Stribog magazines cost more and are harder to find in stores than Glock magazines, and spare parts usually come through the importer. Resale value for a specialty import is less predictable than for mainstream brands. The gun is heavier than a handgun and does not fit standard holsters. Our store title shows only the model name; distributor data confirms this UPC is the 8-inch black SP9A3 with brace.

State Laws and Ownership

Braced pistols with threaded barrels and magazines outside the grip are banned or restricted in California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Illinois, Washington, Colorado and Delaware, which also cap magazine capacity. Pennsylvania has no assault weapon ban, and handgun sales go through a licensed dealer with a background check. Confirm state and local rules before ordering.
