Description
The Alpha Foxtrot AFMG9 is an AR-pattern 9mm pistol that feeds from standard double-stack Glock magazines, which means the magazines already in your range bag work in it. Controls and ergonomics are familiar AR, the action is straight blowback rather than gas operated, and the whole package rides on a 7.5-inch hand-lapped barrel with an SB Tactical brace at the back.
Barrel and Action
7.5-inch 416 stainless barrel, button rifled with a 1:10 right-hand twist and six grooves, hand lapped and QPQ coated.
Threaded 1/2×28, the standard pitch for 9mm muzzle devices.
Straight blowback operation with an ambidextrous charging handle and a tool-steel extractor.
The Alpha Foxtrot AFMG9 bolt is manufactured in house and finished in black phosphate, with HPT and MPI testing on the critical parts.
Receivers, Furniture and Magazines
Forged 6061 upper with a 7075-T6 aluminum lower, black anodized, with a flared magwell that speeds up reloads.
Accepts all double-stack Glock magazines, so it shares ammunition and magazines with a Glock sidearm.
M-LOK handguard with a Picatinny top rail, Magpul flip-up sights and a Mission First Tactical pistol grip.
SB Tactical pistol brace and a mil-spec fire control group.
Part number AA08X1HXX-XABK20.

Sharing magazines between a carbine and a handgun is an old idea that pistol caliber ARs finally made practical. Because the Alpha Foxtrot AFMG9 runs double-stack Glock magazines, a shooter who already carries a Glock can buy one type of magazine, one type of ammunition and one set of pouches. Blowback operation keeps the parts count low and the reliability high, at the cost of a slightly heavier bolt and a little more recoil impulse than a gas gun would give.
Why it is worth considering
- Feeds from the Glock magazines most shooters already own.
- Hand-lapped QPQ barrel rather than a plain nitride blank.
- Forged receivers with HPT and MPI tested internals.
- M-LOK handguard, flip-up sights and a quality grip included, not stripped down.
- Threaded muzzle for a compensator or other muzzle device.
Who it suits
Home defense buyers and range shooters who already run a Glock will get the most from this pistol, since it shares magazines and ammunition with the handgun. Note that this is a braced pistol, not a short-barreled rifle. MAG5 Firearms does not sell NFA items, and fitting a shoulder stock to a barrel this short would create a short-barreled rifle requiring ATF approval, so the brace should stay as configured.

Where It Fits Against Other 9mm Pistols
Pistol caliber ARs split into two camps: those that take proprietary magazines and those that take Glock magazines. This one is firmly in the second camp, as is the B&T SPC9 if you want a roller-delayed action instead of straight blowback. Alpha Foxtrot also builds the Romulus double-stack 1911 if a handgun is what you are actually after. Company details are published at Alpha Foxtrot.
Blowback 9mm guns are not picky, but they do run better on full-power ammunition than on light target loads. Standard-pressure 115-grain and 124-grain are both fine. Keep a few spare Glock-pattern magazines on hand and a case of 124-grain ammunition for defensive use. All firearm orders ship to a licensed FFL dealer for transfer, and MAG5 Firearms will coordinate the paperwork with the dealer of your choice.
