Description
The Grand Power Stribog SP9A1 9mm Braced is the original Stribog design: a compact 9mm pistol with an 8-inch threaded barrel, an aluminum upper, a polymer lower and an SB Tactical brace, all in black. It feeds from Stribog 30-round magazines and is made in Slovakia by Grand Power and imported by Global Ordnance.

Grand Power Stribog SP9A1 9mm Braced Overview
The SP9A1 is the model that introduced American shooters to the Stribog in 2018. It runs on a straight blowback action, the simplest pistol-caliber carbine design, with a heavy bolt that relies on mass and spring tension rather than rollers or a gas system. The upper receiver is aluminum with a full-length Picatinny rail, and the handguard has M-LOK slots. A non-reciprocating charging handle sits on the left side, and the safety and magazine release are ambidextrous. Distributors list it at about 4.9 pounds.
Blowback Simplicity and Recoil
A blowback action has few parts to wear or clean, and it runs a wide range of 9mm loads. The trade-off is a sharper recoil impulse and more bolt movement than the newer roller-delayed A3 models, which some shooters notice as more muzzle bounce on fast strings. The brace and the gun weight soak up much of it, so it is still far softer than a 9mm handgun. Heavier 147-grain loads tend to feel smoothest in blowback guns.

Barrel, Rails and Sights
The 8-inch barrel is threaded 1/2×28 and ships with a thread protector, so standard 9mm muzzle devices and suppressor mounts fit. The top rail runs the full length of the gun for a red dot or magnifier, and the handguard takes M-LOK lights and handstops. Folding front and rear sights come on the rail. The pistol grip is AR compatible, so you can swap in a favorite grip if the factory one does not fit your hand.
Stribog Magazines
The SP9A1 uses Stribog 9mm magazines, translucent polymer units available in 10, 20 and 30 round sizes, so you can see the round count at a glance. These are not Glock or MP5 pattern, so you need Stribog magazines specifically; the Glock-magazine version is the SP9A3G. Our cross-sell below is the factory 30-round curved magazine. Keep a few spares, because these sell out more often than common Glock magazines.

About the Photos and Brace
This listing is the black SP9A1 with an SB Tactical folding brace, as shown in the main photo. The two gallery photos show the same black SP9A1 receiver without the brace installed, included so you can see the left side and controls in more detail. Brace regulation has changed several times; the 2023 ATF rule was vacated by federal courts in 2024, but states can set their own rules, so stay current.
Honest Caveats
The SP9A1 has been superseded by the A3 generation, which adds roller-delayed operation and other refinements, so some upgrade parts are now aimed at the A3. Stribog-specific magazines cost more than Glock magazines. Resale value for a specialty import is less predictable than for big brands. Suppressors are NFA items that require an approved ATF Form 4 and state legality, and a vertical foregrip on a pistol can create an NFA item.
State Laws and Ownership
Braced pistols with threaded barrels and magazines outside the grip are banned or restricted in California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Illinois, Washington, Colorado and Delaware, and those states also limit magazine capacity. Pennsylvania has no assault weapon ban, and handgun sales go through a licensed dealer with a background check. Check your state and local rules before ordering.
