Description

The Glock 17 Gen6 COA 9mm 17 Round is the full size Gen6 supplied with an Aimpoint COA red dot already fitted and zeroed at the factory. Buying the pistol and the optic together removes the mounting question entirely, and the COA is not a budget sight thrown in to pad the package.
Glock 17 Gen6 COA 9mm 17 Round Optic Ready System
The headline change on Gen6 is how optics mount. Glock has dropped the adapter plates the MOS system relied on and machined the slide so a red dot bolts down directly, with screw threads compatible with the Trijicon RMR and SRO, the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro and C-More footprints. Removing the plate removes a stack of tolerances, a second set of screws to check and a few millimetres of height, so the dot sits lower and there is one less thing to work loose under recoil.
The Aimpoint COA is a closed emitter design, meaning the LED and lens sit inside a sealed optical channel rather than facing an open notch. Open emitter dots can be blinded by rain, lint or a bead of gun oil landing in the wrong place; a closed channel cannot. It carries a 3.5 MOA dot, a 7075-T6 aluminium housing, four night vision and eight daylight brightness settings, and runs over 50,000 hours on one CR2032, which is about five years left switched on.
Grip, Trigger and Slide Changes
Gen6 introduces a flat faced trigger as standard, and shortens the distance from the backstrap to the trigger face to 68 mm, roughly two millimetres less than Gen5. That sounds trivial and is not: shooters with shorter fingers reach the trigger more squarely, and a flat shoe makes it easier to feel where the finger sits on every press.
The grip is where the rest of the work went. Glock added subtle palm swells to each side, scalloped thumb ledges ahead of the trigger guard for a higher, more locked in grip, and a new RTF-6 texture that covers more of the frame than the RTF-2 and RTF-4 patterns before it. Front and rear slide serrations are milled deeper as well, which matters most with wet or gloved hands.
Barrel, Safety and Controls
The barrel is the Glock Marksman Barrel carried over from Gen5, using an enhanced polygonal rifling profile and a tighter crown than the older design. Underneath, the Safe Action system is unchanged: three passive, independently operating mechanical safeties that disengage in sequence as the trigger is pressed and reset automatically when it is released. There is no manual safety lever and no decocker.

Why Buyers Choose the Glock 17 Gen6 COA 9mm 17 Round
Buying a pistol and a quality closed emitter optic separately usually means two purchases, a mounting decision and a trip to zero it. This arrives as one item, factory fitted, sitting as low as the Gen6 slide allows. The COA alone retails around six hundred dollars, so the bundled configuration is generally the cheaper route to the same end state.
It is also worth knowing what Gen6 is not. It is a separate line from the V Series, which is Glock’s other current platform and which changed internal parts rather than ergonomics. The two are not the same pistol with a different label, and parts do not freely interchange between generations, so confirm fitment before ordering components.
Who Should Buy It
The Glock 17 Gen6 COA 9mm 17 Round suits the duty carrier who wants a sealed optic that shrugs off weather, the home defender who would rather not research mounting footprints, and the shooter moving to a red dot for the first time who wants the decision made correctly on their behalf.
