Why the 22 ARC Is Catching On
The 22 ARC is built on the same case head as the 6mm ARC and 6.5 Grendel, which lets it fit in AR-15 rifles with a Grendel type bolt and magazine. It fires heavy for caliber .224 bullets that hold velocity and resist wind far better than standard 55 grain 5.56 loads, giving AR owners a flatter shooting, longer reaching option without moving to a larger rifle platform.
A 75 grain bullet at nearly 3,000 fps puts the 22 ARC in an attractive spot for precision practice, long range steel and varmint style shooting. Recoil stays light, so spotting your own impacts through a scope is easy, which speeds up learning at distance.
American Eagle loads are Federal’s practice line. They use quality components so you can train with consistent, accurate ammunition at a price that makes high volume shooting practical.

Field Notes and Range Tips
Use Federal American Eagle 22 ARC 75gr TMJ ammo only in firearms chambered for 22 ARC. It will not chamber correctly in 5.56 or 223 rifles, and it uses a larger bolt face than standard AR-15 bolts. Most 22 ARC uppers use a 6.5 Grendel or 6mm ARC type bolt and magazines.
Total Metal Jacket bullets enclose the lead core and reduce lead exposure at indoor ranges and in suppressors. They are designed for practice and target work, not hunting, so choose an expanding bullet for game.
Zero your rifle at 100 yards, then confirm drops at longer distances. Heavy .224 bullets perform best from barrels with fast rifling twist, commonly 1 in 7 inches for this cartridge.
Save your fired brass. American Eagle cases are reloadable, and 22 ARC brass is still less common than 223, so keeping your cases makes future handloading easier.
If you have a 22 ARC rifle and want affordable, consistent practice ammunition, Federal American Eagle 22 ARC 75gr TMJ is a reliable choice for the range. Pair it with Grendel pattern magazines and a matching bolt carrier group to keep your rifle running.
Practice is where long range skill is built. Running Federal American Eagle 22 ARC 75gr TMJ ammo for drills such as positional shooting, wind calls on steel and rapid target transitions lets you put more rounds downrange for the same budget. Many shooters train with an affordable full metal jacket load and then confirm their data with a premium match or hunting load before an event or hunt.
Keep a simple log of each session, noting temperature, wind, elevation adjustments and group sizes. Over time, the log becomes a valuable reference for how your rifle and this load perform in different conditions.
