Why the 6mm ARC Exists
Hornady built the 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge to a specific brief: put a high ballistic coefficient 6mm bullet into an AR-15 magazine and make it work at distances the 5.56 cannot reach. It uses the 6.5 Grendel case necked down, so it runs in a standard AR-15 lower with a Grendel bolt and magazine, and it sends heavy-for-caliber 6mm bullets fast enough to stay supersonic past 1000 yards.
That is the design case. The practical case is different: 6mm ARC ammunition costs enough that most owners shoot theirs sparingly, which is exactly how a rifle stays unfamiliar. The Federal American Eagle 6mm ARC 110gr exists to fix that, at practice pricing rather than match pricing.
At 2550 feet per second with a 110 grain bullet it produces roughly 1588 foot-pounds at the muzzle. That is honest 6mm ARC performance, not a downloaded imitation, so the recoil impulse and gas system behaviour match what you get from the premium loads.

Total metal jacket means the copper wraps the base as well as the sides, so no lead is exposed at all. That matters most on indoor ranges, where an exposed lead base vaporizes at the muzzle and puts airborne lead into the air you are breathing. Many indoor ranges specifically require TMJ or plated ammunition for that reason.
Cases are reloadable brass with boxer primers, which is worth real money in a cartridge this new. Component brass for the 6mm ARC is not always easy to find, and a few hundred once-fired cases from the Federal American Eagle 6mm ARC 110gr is a practical way to build a supply.
Accuracy is practice grade rather than match grade. Expect adequate groups for training, position work and steel inside 500 yards, and buy a match load if you are chasing small groups at distance. That is not a criticism; it is what American Eagle is for.

Buy the Federal American Eagle 6mm ARC 110gr if you own a 6mm ARC upper and want to shoot it regularly rather than ration it. Volume practice is what makes a shooter competent, and cost per round is what makes volume practice possible.
Skip it for precision work at distance. A match OTM will group meaningfully tighter, and if you bought a 6mm ARC for its long-range ability then match ammunition is what unlocks it.
Skip it for hunting. Total metal jacket does not expand and is the wrong bullet for game. A Barnes TAC-TX or similar expanding bullet is the correct choice there.
