Buying ammunition by the box from the same production lot keeps velocity and point of impact consistent from one range trip to the next. Keep a record of the load you carry, check your ammunition for dents or loose bullets from time to time, and rotate your carry rounds so the ones in your firearm stay fresh. These simple habits help you get the full performance Federal builds into every cartridge.

Before you trust any new load, fire enough rounds through your firearm to confirm it feeds, fires and ejects reliably and that the point of impact matches your sights. Full-power loads produce more recoil and muzzle blast than typical range ammo, so practice with the Federal 460 SW 260gr Fusion SP until you are comfortable with it, and store the rest in a cool, dry place in the original box.

The .460 Smith and Wesson Magnum was introduced in 2005 and was, at the time, the highest-velocity production revolver cartridge in the world. Revolvers chambered for it can also fire .454 Casull and .45 Colt, giving owners a versatile big-bore handgun for hunting large game and protection in bear country.
