Federal 300 WSM 165gr Barnes TSX – Proven Short Magnum Hunting Ammo, 20 Rounds

Description

Federal 300 WSM 165gr Barnes TSX ammunition pairs the compact power of the 300 Winchester Short Magnum with the Barnes Triple-Shock X, one of the most trusted all copper hunting bullets ever made. This load leaves the muzzle at about 3,130 feet per second with a ballistic coefficient of .398, and the solid copper bullet holds nearly all of its weight for deep penetration. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Short Magnum Speed with a Solid Copper Bullet

The 300 WSM packs near 300 Win Mag velocity into a short action case. That means a lighter, handier rifle and a shorter bolt throw, which many hunters appreciate when carrying a rifle up a mountain or making a fast follow up shot.

The Barnes TSX turns that speed into reliable terminal performance. Its deep hollow point opens into large petals on impact, while the one piece copper shank keeps pushing through muscle and bone. With no lead core and no jacket to separate, the bullet stays together even on close, high velocity impacts.

Grooves on the shank relieve pressure and reduce copper fouling, helping this load group well. Federal’s published ballistics show the bullet still traveling more than 2,200 feet per second at 400 yards.

Tips for Hunting with the 300 WSM

Use Federal 300 WSM 165gr Barnes TSX ammo only in rifles chambered for 300 Winchester Short Magnum. It is not interchangeable with 300 Win Mag or 300 SAUM.

Copper bullets are longer than lead core bullets of the same weight, so always re-zero when changing loads.

Short magnum rifles are often light. A good recoil pad and plenty of practice from field positions will tighten your groups.

Clean copper fouling every few range sessions to keep accuracy at its best.

Federal 300 WSM 165gr Barnes TSX ammo is a proven choice for elk, moose, black bear and big bodied deer hunters who carry a short action magnum and want a bullet that holds together, as well as hunters in areas that require lead free ammunition.

Winchester introduced the 300 WSM to deliver magnum performance from a shorter, fatter case that burns powder efficiently. The design has become a favorite for mountain hunters and anyone who wants long range energy from a compact rifle. Federal 300 WSM 165gr Barnes TSX ammo carries roughly 3,590 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle by standard calculation, which is plenty for the largest game most hunters will pursue.

Shot placement still decides every hunt. Wait for a broadside or slightly quartering angle and aim for the heart and lungs. The deep penetration of the Federal 300 WSM 165gr Barnes TSX gives you margin on steeper angles, but a careful, well placed shot is always the goal.

Store your ammunition in a cool, dry place in the original box. Buying several boxes of Federal 300 WSM 165gr Barnes TSX from the same lot lets you zero once and trust your data all season. Save your fired cases too, since 300 WSM brass is valuable for handloaders.
