Description
The Derya Melik Gold 9mm 15 Round sits in the middle of the Melik Gold lineup: a polished nickel, gold-accented full-size 9mm that ships with a 15-round magazine. Fifteen rounds is the legal limit in a few states and a good balance of capacity and magazine length everywhere else.
Derya Melik Gold 9mm 15 Round Overview
Derya’s code for this version is 15L.MELIK9.NG.TR. The pistol is a double action / single action design with a decocker, a 4.9 inch gold PVD barrel, an 8.4 inch overall length and a weight of about two pounds. The open-top slide recalls the classic Italian service pistol layout, and the mahogany dark wood grips set off the bright finish. Our store title calls it the MK9; Derya names it the Melik.
Why the 15-Round Version
States such as Colorado and Vermont cap handgun magazines at 15 rounds, which makes this the full-capacity choice there. Elsewhere, some shooters simply prefer the 15-round magazine because it is easier to load to the top than a 17.
The Finish
Polished nickel and gold is about looks, and it delivers. Expect fingerprints and holster wear on any polished gun; wipe it with a silicone cloth after handling and keep it in the supplied hard case to protect it.
How It Shoots
All-metal construction gives the Melik enough weight to make 9mm feel soft. The double action first shot is long and heavy, then each following shot is single action until you decock.
Box Contents
The pistol ships with a hard case, cleaning rod, brush and manual. Derya sells spare magazines in 10, 15 and 17-round sizes. Use quality brass-cased 115 or 124 grain ammunition for the first few hundred rounds and clean the gun after that break-in period, which helps any new DA/SA pistol settle in and lets you confirm it runs your chosen defensive load.
Things to Know
Holster choices for the Melik are limited compared with mainstream service pistols, and resale value is lower than legacy brands. It is a big, heavy gun to carry daily, so it shines most as a range or home pistol.
State Laws and Ownership
The Melik Gold is not on the California roster and Derya lists it as not Massachusetts compliant. States with 10-round limits will need the 10-round version, while 15-round states can buy this one. Rules on permits and transport vary by state and city, so confirm what applies to you before ordering.
