Description
The Derya Melik 9mm Two Tone 15 Round is the capacity-friendly version of Derya’s two tone Melik. It has the same silver aluminum frame, black melonite steel slide and Turkish wood grips as the standard two tone model, but it ships with a 15-round magazine (model 15L.TT.MELIK9.TR) for buyers who live under magazine restrictions or simply prefer a 15-round setup.
Derya Melik 9mm Two Tone 15 Round Overview
Underneath the finish, the Melik is a full-size, all-metal, hammer-fired DA/SA pistol in the 92-style pattern. It has a 4.9 inch barrel with a 1:16 twist, an 8.4 inch overall length and a weight of about 2 pounds according to Lipsey’s. Capacity is 15+1 with the supplied magazine. The first shot is a long double action pull; after that the slide cocks the hammer for short, light single action follow-ups. A slide-mounted lever serves as both safety and decocker, and fixed sights keep things rugged and simple.
Why the 15-Round Version
Several states cap magazines at 15 rounds, including Colorado and, for handguns, Vermont, so this configuration lets more buyers own the two tone Melik as it comes from the factory. The magazine body is the same full-size design, so the grip feels identical to the 17-round model. If your state limits magazines to 10 rounds, Derya also sells 10-round Melik magazines; check your law before ordering.
Finish and Grips
The contrast between the silver frame and the black slide gives this pistol a classic look that stands out in a case or collection. The aluminum frame keeps weight in check for a metal pistol, while the melonite slide resists rust. Turkish wood grip panels add warmth; they can feel slicker than aggressive polymer texture when hands are wet, so some shooters add a light grip glove or tape for range use.
Shooting Experience
The weight and long sight radius make this a soft-shooting, accurate 9mm for most people. Recoil is mild, and the open slide design is reliable with a wide range of ammunition. The double action pull is heavy and long, as on most budget DA/SA guns, while the single action break is lighter and is where accuracy improves noticeably. Spend time practicing the transition between the two.
Carry and Holsters
This is a duty-sized pistol best suited to home defense, range use and open belt carry. Holster selection is narrower than for mainstream pistols; some holsters made for similar 92-pattern guns may work, but always check the fit and retention before carrying. A stiff gun belt is a must for comfort with a pistol this heavy.
Support and Value
Derya, with U.S. offices in Jacksonville, Florida, backs its pistols with a limited lifetime warranty to the original owner. The Melik delivers an all-metal, full-size DA/SA pistol at a budget price, though resale value and aftermarket parts support trail the long-established brands that pioneered this layout.
State Laws and Ownership
Even with a 15-round magazine, some states and cities require lower capacity or keep handgun rosters that may not include this model. Confirm both capacity rules and roster status where you live before you buy.
