Description
The Dan Wesson TCP 45 ACP OR is a pistol chambered in 45 ACP with a 4-inch barrel.
Dan Wesson TCP 45 ACP OR Overview
CZ (Česká zbrojovka) has built firearms in the Czech Republic since 1936 and is known for accurate, durable pistols and rifles; CZ-USA also owns Dan Wesson, the American 1911 maker. Dan Wesson 1911s are hand-fitted, forged-steel pistols built in Norwich, New York, prized for their accuracy and craftsmanship. When you choose a handgun, the right size depends on how you plan to use it.
A smaller frame is easier to conceal under a light shirt, while a longer grip and slide give you more control, a longer sight radius and faster follow-up shots at the range. Spend time with the grip in your hand, try a few draws from the holster you plan to use, and practice reloads with the magazines it ships with. Regular practice with quality ammunition will build the confidence and skill that matter far more than any single feature.
Design and Features
They have forged frames and slides, match-grade barrels, premium sights and optics-ready slides on OR models. For carry, pair it with a quality holster that covers the trigger guard completely and a sturdy belt that keeps the gun stable through the day. For home defense, a weapon light and a secure, quick-access safe are worth considering. Whatever the role, spend time learning to manipulate the controls until loading, unloading and clearing malfunctions become second nature.
Handling and Carry
They are superb carry and competition 1911s.
Trigger and Controls
The single action trigger breaks crisply with a short reset.
Sights and Optics
The factory sights give a clear, quick sight picture, and an optic-ready slide (where fitted) lets you add a red dot whenever you are ready.
The 45 ACP Cartridge
The 45 ACP has served American shooters for more than a century. Its big, slower bullet hits hard with a recoil impulse many describe as a firm push.
Setup and Accessories
A good holster is the most important accessory for any carry pistol. Choose one that covers the trigger guard completely and holds the gun securely, then add a sturdy gun belt, spare magazines, and a weapon light if the frame has a rail. Practice drawing and reloading with an unloaded gun until it feels natural.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the pistol and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the breech face and slide rails. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
