Description
The Combat Armory CA15 Full Pic AR Pistol is a compact 5.56 NATO AR-15 pistol with a 7.5-inch barrel, a 7-inch free-float M-LOK handguard with a continuous top Picatinny rail, and a 30-round magazine. It packs the AR platform into a short, maneuverable package for range use, vehicle storage and home defense where local laws allow it.
Combat Armory CA15 Full Pic AR Pistol Overview
Like the rest of the CA15 line, this pistol is built on billet 7075-T6 aluminum receivers with a Type III hard-coat anodized black finish. The 4140 chrome-moly vanadium barrel has a Melonite finish, M4 profile and feed ramps, a 1-in-7 twist and 1/2×28 threads with an A2 flash hider. 750 gas block runs the action. The lower ships with a bare pistol buffer tube rather than a stock or brace.
Please note: our distributor feed describes the handguard as a thin rail, while the product name and Combat Armory list a full Picatinny top rail; confirm with us if this detail matters to your build.
Full Top Rail on a Short Gun
A continuous Picatinny rail across the receiver and handguard gives a short pistol more mounting room than you might expect. You can place a red dot or holographic sight on the receiver and still fit a pressure-switch mount, a forward light or folding front sight on the handguard. M-LOK slots along the sides and bottom add points for a hand stop or sling mount. Keep your support hand behind the muzzle at all times; a hand stop is a smart addition on a 7-inch rail.
Short Barrel Realities
A 7.5-inch 5.56 barrel gives up significant velocity compared with a 16-inch rifle barrel, which reduces effective range and changes how bullets perform on impact. It also produces a loud report and a large muzzle flash, especially indoors. Hearing protection is essential, and many owners eventually add a suppressor, which requires an approved ATF Form 4 and state legality. The pistol-length gas system keeps the action cycling reliably with the shorter dwell time.
Braces, Stocks and the Law
This pistol comes with a plain buffer tube. Adding a stabilizing brace has been the subject of shifting ATF rules and court rulings, so confirm current ATF rules and your state laws before adding one. Never install a shoulder stock or a vertical foregrip on this pistol: a stock on a barrel under 16 inches creates an unregistered short-barreled rifle, which is a federal felony without prior NFA approval, and a vertical grip on a pistol can create an any other weapon.
Handling and Practice
Shooting an AR pistol well takes practice. Many owners use a single-point or two-point sling with tension, or a cheek weld against the tube where legal, to stabilize the gun. A red dot is the most practical optic for this platform. Use quality brass-cased ammunition while you learn the gun, and keep the bolt carrier group well lubricated, since short gas systems can run harder and dirtier than rifle-length systems.
Value and Ownership
Combat Armory is a newer brand, so resale value will typically trail legacy AR makers, and support comes mainly through standard mil-spec parts. On the plus side, billet receivers, a Melonite barrel and a free-float rail are uncommon at this price. If you want a compact AR-15 to learn on or keep handy, this full-rail pistol is a capable option, and it is distinct from the slim-rail CA15 pistols we also carry.
Safe Storage
Store handguns unloaded in a locked safe, lockbox or with a cable lock, and keep ammunition separate when children are in the home. Quick access safes let you keep a defensive handgun secure but available. Teach everyone in the household basic firearm safety rules.

State Laws and Ownership
AR-15 pistols are handguns under federal rules, and they are banned or heavily restricted in several states, including California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Illinois and Washington. Many states also cap magazine capacity at 10 or 15 rounds. In Pennsylvania, AR pistols are treated as handguns, buyers complete a PICS check, and carrying one concealed or in a vehicle requires a License to Carry Firearms. Confirm legality with your receiving FFL before ordering.
