Colt Defender 45 ACP 3 XETT Overview
The Defender is a Colt pistol built for everyday carry. It is built on the 1911 Style platform. A good handgun should be reliable with a wide range of ammo, easy to shoot accurately and simple to maintain, and that is what this model is built to deliver.
Action and Controls
The Defender runs on a single action only system with a Skeletonized trigger. It holds 7+1 rounds. The safety is grip. Practice your trigger press and reloads until they feel natural.
Barrel and Sights
The 3 inch barrel. Sights are Novak Front/Tactile Rear. Check that your front sight is crisp in focus as you press the trigger, which is the key to accuracy with any handgun.
Frame, Slide and Finish
The frame is aluminum and the slide is carbon steel. Slide details include serrated. Grips are G10.
Size and Carry
It weighs about 23 oz. That size works well for concealed carry with the right holster.
Ammo and Practice
Feed this pistol quality factory ammo from a known brand. Shoot a few hundred rounds of practice ammo and at least a box of your chosen defensive load to confirm it runs reliably before you trust it for protection.
The 45 ACP
The 45 ACP is a proven defensive round with big, slow bullets and moderate recoil.
Concealed Carry and Defense
This pistol is sized for concealed carry. Pair it with a quality holster and a sturdy belt, and practice your draw with an unloaded gun before you carry. For home defense, keep it in a quick access safe.
Holsters and Accessories
Plan on a quality holster made for this exact model, a magazine pouch, a lock or quick access safe, and eye and ear protection. A weapon light and a red dot are popular upgrades if the gun is set up for them.
Buying Tips
Pick up extra magazines, a quality holster and plenty of practice ammo. If you are new to handguns, a basic safety class is a smart first step.
Care and Value
Clean the bore and action after each range trip or hunt, keep moving parts lightly oiled and wipe the finish after handling. A well kept Colt holds its value.
State Laws
Handgun laws vary by state, including magazine limits, approved roster lists and carry permits. Check your local law before you buy. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.

When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee.
