Cimarron Sharps Slotter CO. 45-70 30 Overview
The Sharps Slotter and CO. is a Cimarron lever action rifle. Lever guns are fast handling, quick to cycle and easy to carry in thick cover, a classic American design that still works.
Action and Controls
The Sharps Slotter and CO. is a lever action rifle with a falling block action.
Barrel
The 30 inch barrel has a 1:18″ twist.
Stock and Fit
The stock is maple with a wood finish. Check the length of pull against your own fit, especially if you shoot in heavy clothing. Metal surfaces wear Case Colored/Hardened.
Size and Handling
Overall length is 47″. It weighs about 11.4 lbs. A steady rest, a good sling and practice from field positions will help you shoot it well.
Ammo and Practice
Try a few brands and bullet weights to see what groups best in this rifle, then buy enough of that load to practice and hunt with the same ammo.
The 45-70 Government
The 45-70 Government throws big, heavy bullets that hit hard at woods ranges, making it a favorite for bear country and big game.
Deer Hunting and More
This rifle suits deer hunting and, depending on caliber, hogs, black bear and other game. Confirm your zero before the season and know your effective range.
Optics and Accessories
Plan on quality scope rings or mounts, a sling, a hard or soft case and a cleaning kit. A bipod or shooting sticks help a lot for steady shots in the field or at the bench.
Buying Tips
Budget for quality optics or sights, a sling and ammo, and confirm your zero at the distances you expect to shoot.
Care and Value
Clean the bore and action after each range trip or hunt, keep moving parts lightly oiled and wipe the finish after handling. A well kept Cimarron holds its value.
State Laws
Some states limit semi-auto features, magazine capacity and hunting calibers. Check your local law before you buy. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
Ordering and Transfer
When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee. Local buyers can complete the transfer at our shop. Bring a valid ID, and check your state waiting period before you plan a hunt or a range trip.
Safe Storage
Store the firearm unloaded in a locked safe or case, with ammunition kept separately. A cable lock or trigger lock is a good backup, especially in a home with children or visitors. Keep the original box and paperwork, and record the serial number in a safe place in case the gun is ever lost or stolen.
Your First Range Trip
Mount your optic, bore sight it, then fire your first groups at 25 yards before moving to 100. Let the barrel cool between strings, and record your zero and the load you used. Wear eye and ear protection, keep the muzzle in a safe direction, and clean the bore when you get home.
