Cimarron 1873 Saddle 45 Colt 18 Overview

The 1873 Saddle is a Cimarron lever action rifle. Lever guns are fast handling, quick to cycle and easy to carry in thick cover, a classic American design that still works.

Action and Controls

The 1873 Saddle is a lever action rifle. It holds 10+1 rounds. The safety is hammer. This is a right hand model.

Barrel

The 18 inch barrel is steel with an octagon profile.

Stock and Fit

The stock is wood with a walnut finish. Check the length of pull against your own fit, especially if you shoot in heavy clothing. Metal surfaces wear Color Case Hardened and Blued.

Size and Handling

Overall length is 35″. It weighs about 7.50 lbs. A steady rest, a good sling and practice from field positions will help you shoot it well.

Ammo and Practice

Try a few brands and bullet weights to see what groups best in this rifle, then buy enough of that load to practice and hunt with the same ammo.

The 45 Colt

The 45 Colt is a classic big bore round with plenty of mild cowboy loads and heavier hunting loads.

Deer Hunting and More

This rifle suits deer hunting and, depending on caliber, hogs, black bear and other game. Confirm your zero before the season and know your effective range.

Optics and Accessories

Plan on quality scope rings or mounts, a sling, a hard or soft case and a cleaning kit. A bipod or shooting sticks help a lot for steady shots in the field or at the bench.

Buying Tips

Budget for quality optics or sights, a sling and ammo, and confirm your zero at the distances you expect to shoot.

Care and Value

Clean the bore and action after each range trip or hunt, keep moving parts lightly oiled and wipe the finish after handling. A well kept Cimarron holds its value.

State Laws

Some states limit semi-auto features, magazine capacity and hunting calibers. Check your local law before you buy. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.

Ordering and Transfer

When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee. Local buyers can complete the transfer at our shop. Bring a valid ID, and check your state waiting period before you plan a hunt or a range trip.

Safe Storage

Store the firearm unloaded in a locked safe or case, with ammunition kept separately. A cable lock or trigger lock is a good backup, especially in a home with children or visitors. Keep the original box and paperwork, and record the serial number in a safe place in case the gun is ever lost or stolen.
