Chiappa Rhino 60DS Hunter 357 6 OD Green – Remarkable Revolver

Description

The Chiappa Rhino 60DS Hunter 357 6 OD Green is a six-shot .357 Magnum revolver with Chiappa’s unique low-bore Rhino design, a 6 inch barrel and a green Cerakote frame with a blued cylinder. The Hunter version adds medium walnut grips and an adjustable green fiber optic rear sight for field use.

Chiappa Rhino 60DS Hunter 357 6 OD Green Overview

The Chiappa Rhino turns the traditional revolver upside down. Instead of firing from the top chamber, it fires from the bottom chamber, which places the barrel in line with your hand. 357 Magnum feels far softer and follow-up shots come faster. The 60DS is the 6 inch double and single action model. Its frame is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum alloy for strength and light weight, while the cylinder and barrel are steel. This Hunter configuration has a green Cerakote frame, a blued cylinder, medium walnut grips and an adjustable green fiber optic rear sight.

5 inches overall. It is made in Italy.

Low Bore Axis Advantage

Because the Rhino fires from the six o’clock chamber, recoil drives straight back rather than up. You keep the sights on target, recover faster and shoot magnum loads with more comfort. Many shooters find the Rhino easier to control than conventional revolvers of similar weight.

Hunting With the 60DS

A 6 inch .357 Magnum is a capable handgun for deer at close range, hogs and predators when paired with quality expanding bullets. The long barrel adds velocity and the fiber optic rear sight is easy to see at dawn and dusk. You can also shoot .38 Special for practice and small game.

Double and Single Action

The DS designation means you can shoot double action for fast, repeatable shots or cock the hammer for a light single action pull when you want maximum precision. The Rhino uses a hammer-cocking lever, and the hammer stays down even when cocked, with an indicator to show its status.

Practice and Training

Regular practice builds confidence and safe handling. Start at close range, focus on sight alignment and a smooth trigger press, and work back as your groups tighten. Dry fire with snap caps at home to improve your trigger control between range trips.

Choosing Ammunition

Try several brands and bullet weights to see what feeds reliably and groups best in your handgun. Use quality full metal jacket loads for practice and proven hollow points for defense, and confirm reliable function with your defensive load before carrying it.

Care and Maintenance

Clean the barrel, slide or cylinder and frame after shooting, apply a light coat of quality lubricant to moving parts, and store the handgun unloaded in a locked case or safe away from children.

Safe Storage

Store handguns unloaded in a locked safe, lockbox or with a cable lock, and keep ammunition separate when children are in the home. Quick access safes keep a defensive handgun secure but available. Teach everyone in the household basic firearm safety rules.

Recommended Accessories

A quality holster, spare magazines, eye and ear protection and a cleaning kit round out any handgun purchase. For defensive use, add a weapon light and practice drawing safely from your holster with an unloaded gun before carrying.
