Charles Daly CD Triple 20/28 Gauge Overview
The CD Triple Crown Empire is a Charles Daly single shot shotgun, light, simple and a great first shotgun.
Action and Controls
The CD Triple Crown Empire is a single shot shotgun with a break open action. It holds 3+1 rounds. The safety is manual.
Barrel and Chokes
The 26 inch barrel is steel with a vent rib profile. The chamber accepts 3″ shells. Sights are Fiber Optic Front.
Stock and Fit
The stock is wood with a oiled walnut finish. The length of pull is 14.50″. Metal surfaces wear Engraved Silver and Blued.
Size and Handling
Overall length is 43″. It weighs about 6.80/7 lbs. Mount the gun the same way every time and let your eyes lead the muzzle to the target.
Ammo and Practice
Use target loads for clays, the right shot size for the birds you hunt, and buckshot or slugs only where they fit the job. Pattern the gun with each load at the distances you expect to shoot.
The 20/28 Gauge
The 20/28 Gauge is a proven chambering. Match your ammunition to your use, and practice with the same loads you plan to rely on.
Upland Birds and Waterfowl
This shotgun suits upland birds, doves and waterfowl, and it works fine for a round of clays. Federal law requires nontoxic shot for waterfowl.
Accessories
A sling, a case, extra choke tubes and a good recoil pad make a shotgun easier to live with. Hunters should add shell carriers and blaze orange or camo gear as the season requires.
Buying Tips
Pattern your gun with each choke and load you plan to use, and check that the length of pull fits you.
Care and Value
Clean the bore and action after each range trip or hunt, keep moving parts lightly oiled and wipe the finish after handling. A well kept Charles Daly holds its value.
State Laws
Some states limit semi-auto features, magazine capacity and hunting calibers. Check your local law before you buy. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
